I can't speak for anyone else, but when carriers start installing apps on my phone that I neither need nor want, I have a problem with it. Sure, the V CAST store is nice, but it's never going to replace the Android Market for me. Slacker? Do not use it or want it, and it runs in the background at all times (same with other forced software like Skype). I'm glad that Verizon is continuing to support the phone via OTA updates, but at least let us get rid of what we don't want.
When I'm finally able to root again (as this update apparently closed a hole unrevoked was taking advantage of), I am all over it.
Also, I like how when I get a text, mail...etc.. in the Notification bar it shows a little number (eg 1) in green next to it. Nice little add-on.
Yes, I just tried and still working.
Wait i'm missing something, what is the wifi tether trick?
Wait, mine doesn't do that after the update... did anyone else not get this?

I like that I can use the VCAST store to charge my account for paid apps, but the interface is a little clunky and God, it's s...l...o...w, so in my case I won't be using it at all. I'm accustomed to and just prefer the standard market. If you like the VCAST store, then by all means.I'm confused...why must the V Cast store REPLACE the Android Market? Can't you use BOTH, if you want too (personally I'm probably not going to use the VCast)?
And it DOESN't RUN IN THE BACKGROUND. My phone has been up for 16 hours, and Slacker has used a grand total of 2s of CPU time. From when I signed into my slacker account last night.
You are one of the lucky ones. The error message just saves you from having to look around. VCast apps is an Epic Fail.
I dont think they are trying to compete with Market. I think they are seeing a chance to make a few bucks by offering the ability to charge to your bill. If they turn that around to offer some discounted apps or special verizon only apps they may actually make people like this.
In the end, I am going to hide VCast Apps (because I am not rooted, cant delete) until/unless it offers me something worthwhile.
You know if you download launcher pro there is an option in the settings to " hide " / get rid of apps you don't use and don't want to look at I would be careful with that though as the android system requires certain apps to run properly. I once hid Facebook twitter and voice dialer and was not able to send gmail only recieve also couldn't find any way unhide the apps
Did I miss something... didn't he say he was going to hide it?
Anybody else have an problems with the SD card after the update? My card got fried when I installed the Froyo update and I had to buy a new one. I don't want that to happen again. Anybody have any ideas if taking the SD card out and then installing the update would make it more or less likely to cause problems?
Just got my Droid Update for my HTC Incredible. After it completed, the phone did its reboot. It froze on the animation where it says "Droid". I waited for a while, then pressed a button to see if it would wake up. It came up with the screen that says swipe to unlock.
