Let's all boycott V-CAST Apps

Wow...this thread makes it sound like the recent OTA update is like something Hitler dreamed up.
I received the update last Thursday and no issue what so ever. I thought Verizon did a good job with implementing this update. As far as the two apps (Slacker & V Cast App) they installed on my phone...I just don't open them. simple. Life goes on happily.

Damn it Godwin...

Yeah, this is a pretty decent update. Nothing massively world changing, but it fixes probably the biggest/most widespread issue with the phone (ok, short of the battery being too small). From my experience, the phone is charging alot faster.

Oh the update included slacker? Wow I will have to check that out. updated yesterday and never even noticed it was there! And what is the big deal about the new app store? I'ts just another market for you to choose from. Boycott now thats funny then boycott verizon all together and goto att, I bet they wont force a phone update on you. Oh yeah you are NOT being forced by verizon either. Just don't download it. Whine and cry that we don't get enough or fast enough updates then whine and cry because they are pushing one out to us. I bet you will be the first one to complain the gingerbread is taking to long! Maybe verizon should boycott that to you

??? How close are you to running out of your unlimited "minutes"?

Whoops, I guess that's what happens when I try to post while a child climbs over my shoulders.

I'm actually well below the max on my limited data plan, with wi-fi everywhere I can easily get by without an unlimited plan and only turn on the data when I am on the move. I just don't want to be charged for something even when it is costing them almost nothing.

FWIW I've been using Slacker for a few months now (well before this update) and I've actually been favoring it over Pandora. I'm not going to pay a subscription for either one, but between the two Slacker allows for much tighter customization of new stations. From your PC you can select tons of artists or songs to "seed" a new station instead of just one.

KB3MMX: Please leave your political trolling at home. Or at least in an appropriate forum.

I am trying to boycott this crapware. Once I saw "V Cast" that was a red flag. However, I am not certain that the phone won't install the update upon the next reboot.

I am already not too happy with the Froyo update and have opened a support ticket to potentially have my OS rolled back. I believe Froyo may be useful to Moto Droid users (I used to own one) but on the D'inc it just screws some things up (IMHO).

I have been with Verizon for years and moved to the Android format to get away from V Cast and other proprietary VZW junk. Until I went Droid I had to deal with "crippled" smart phones.

If they force this garbage on me again I will root my phone. If that doesn't work I'll switch carriers.

I pay $110 per month for their service (for one phone) and now they're going to try to up-sell me and nickel dime me for more money.

F____ them.

From the troubleshooting forum:

Thanks... I did do a earlier search, but typically a search "might" take u to a thread, but not to what I was looking for... So I really appreciate that you provided the answer & not just directing me to the thread. I had also emailed Verizon & they thanked me & understood my frustration... but.. tough luck it is what it is.
