Captivate vs Iphone 4

1. Shitty GPS ( hopefully fixed within next update)(i wonder if it is fixed in the later phones, only time i had a problem was right in toronto, surronded by tall buildings, other then that its quick and bang on)

2. No camera flash or front facing camera for video calls.(the little led flash does very little other then make for grainy out of fucus pictures)

3. Mediocre call quality, speaker could have been louder(HUH for real, call quility is awesome, speaker does lack volume)

4. Too much plastic, not as durable as the special glass on iphone4. (glass more durable then plastic,, since when,)

GPS: Not yet, got my phone on the 5th and still didn't come with the update. Contradictory to what everybody / tutorial said on the internet, I have to check the box next to "Location and Security" > "Use wireless Networks" to get my GPS to work.

There are some comparison of iphone pic vs Captivate pic taken in the dark, the flash makes a huge difference (PS. iphone 4 and Cap uses same camera).

I have read somewhere claims iphone 4 glass is made of some super durable aluminosilicate glass used on windshield and 30 times stronger than plastic. Captivate on the other hand, I seriously doubt if it can survive one drop to the hard cement floor from 3'.

Captivate is an excellent phone, but it still has some flaws cant be overlooked.

gps works fine, no probs here,, loads quicker then my x10

flash i still say is not worth the effort,, pictures are grainy and out of focus,

the iphone4 cant handle drops,, i will try to get pix of coworkers phone,, i will get her to remove the rubber cover,, her words exactly " phone looks like shit after 3 months"

and oh yes dont have to use ITUNES best feature going

They do not have the same camera, but it is the same resolution.

yeah but gorilla glass is much stronger then what apple is using.

I beg to differ. It takes 3 average drops to shatter iPhone 4 screen, I dare you drop your Captivate once. I am a Captivate user myself but I will never drop my phone on a hard floor anytime from 3' because I know it will break for sure.

BUMMER!!

Wish I knew this before spending $3 on screen protectors!!!

Gorilla Glass or not, it can still be scratched. Regardless, A $3 screen protector doesn't do much good anyways, the good ones like Zagg cost 13 bux online, 21 in BestBuy.

What journal did you publish these finding in? Or at least how many iphone 4's have you personally dropped or seen dropped to come to this conclusion?

EDIT: I'm sorry, kind of being a jerk, but I just get a kick out of comments like that, said like it's definitive knowledge, when it is obviously anecdotal. The thing is I say things like that sometimes too.

I've only done one serious drop with mine before I got it in a case, but it was a pretty wild one. I was in a rush to get to the drycleaner and back, and I had my phone in my pocket but I was wearing some workout clothes so it was kind of loose. So I spin around and stand up, the phone snags on the steering wheel and kind of "twangs" out of my pocket like a slingshot. It must have shot up in the air like 6 feet and hit the pavement and it was totally fine, except for maybe this little dimple on the rear, lower plastic (not sure if that was already there or not).

It's in an Innocase II now :D

...And did the battery stay in???

Oh yeah, nothing opened, or popped out or anything. My battery door is _super_ tight, it takes a pretty decent amount of force to open.

Though it's probably a matter of how it landed. Hahaha, I wish I had a video, I'm not even sure if it didn't maybe hit the door on the way down. I have a roadster and the top was down so it went straight up and it was sitting between the open door and the car, display up.

In slow motion it probably looked like that opening scene in 2001: ASO. :D
