I am running Skyraider 3.3.3 with Sense currently. Today I got a system update notice. The notice says it includes things like V CAST Apps, Slacker, and other things. Is this a full system update? If so I assume it will not play nice with Skyraider. In this case how do I get it to stop alerting me?

Thanks.

I am in the same situation but haven't received the OTA notice yet. I read on XDA that there is a way to dismiss/ignore it.

I am waiting for a response from someone on those forums ....

"I just tweeted the question to ihtfp69, My gut feel says to cancel. I recall a post from ihtfp69 indicating it update was not needed.

I have not found the post yet but will post it here when I do."

here is detailed instruction

1) download notepad off the market
2) using notepad open /system/build.prop
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/264707:user/release-keys
3) Edit as quoted above and save as build.prop in sdcard root
4) start terminal emulator and type the following

su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
mv /system/build.prop /system/build.prop.bak
cd sdcard
busybox cp -R build.prop /system
chmod 644 /system/build.prop
mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
sync

5) boot several times and eventually the notification will go away

You can brick if you are not careful, so do this at your own risk!! It worked well for me though

this fix is even faster if you have root explorer installed.. yeah it costs, but root explorer is well worth it.. i use it all the time for moving apps, renaming backup.. i'd call it a mandatory application to have.. no need for a cable to do stuff, no line commands. navigate/click..

the fix does work.. i just did it and no nags as of yet.. skyraider 3.3

------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Open Root Explorer and make sure you're mounted as Read/Write
-Navigate to /system and long press on build.prop, then select the "Open in text editor" option
-Find the line that contains "FRF91/XXXXXX:user..." and replace that 6 digit number with 264707
-Then hit Menu > Save and exit
-Reboot

The notification will probably still be in your notification bar. Bring it up and then hit the back button. Give it a little time and it will go away for good. I've rebooted and waited for about a half hour now and it's not coming back.

Credit to XDA member Div033 for the fix.

If you have ES File Explorer which is free you can go into "settings/root options" and turn on "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System" to view and edit system files. Then navigate to and click to open "/system/build.prop" It should give you options on how you want to open. I clicked on "ES Edit note". Made the recommended changes (see above posts) and saved it. After rebooting just once the reminder was gone. No other adjustments, no more rebooting, no waiting, and no out of pocket expense.

sync

Alright, please forgive me... I am newly rooted and just learning this stuff. What tool do I use to do this? Where is the terminal emulator?
