Root WiFi Tether with Various Kernels

I am rooted on the Droid 1 with a stock FRG22D kernel and ROM. I downloaded WiFi Tether from the Market. I tried it out on several different laptops using different Windows OS. It appears to work great as long as Access Control (MAC Filtering) and WEP are turned off. If either is activated, all data transfer ceases. Other posts have also noted this issue which appears to be associated with the stock FRG22D kernel.

My question is has anyone flashed a Froyo P3 or other kernal that will allow Access Control or WEP to work as intended with the stock FRG22D ROM. I am happy with the stock kernel and ROM but will consider switching if I can find a compatable kernel or other configuration.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

my WEP is off but my Access Control is on and I have no issues with the most recent JDLFGs kernels. I suppose I could test with WEP on as well to find out if it still works.

This would be good to know. I flashed a P3 (LV 1 Ghz) kernel and WiFi Teather would not work so I flashed back to my original rooted, stock Droid. Specifically, what JDLFG kernel are you running?

I have found the solution which I have tested on both an XP and Win7 laptop. Wireless Tether works with both Access Control and WEP activated.

Here is my setup:

Rooted with ClockWorkmod Recovery
Slayer 1000 Mhz version 1.6 Froyo kernal
Stock FRG22D ROM
Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5-pre7

Other similar combinations may work. I was able to get the 2.0.5-pre7 to work with WEP and the stock FRG22D Froyo kernal but Access Control would not work. I believe the key is finding the correct kernal and Wireless Tether build.

I have seen lots of posts with issues concerning wireless tether and thought others may be interested in this solution.

I have tried both the P3 LV 250-1000 and Slayher LV 1.6 with Compcache and Wifi fix for boot loop, with the CM6.1-RC5 ROM. Wifi tether (with Access Control) works great with both these kernels, both with my Win XP laptop, and my iPad. I am using the version of Wireless Tether available in the Android market.
