Help Texting Problems

I've had my Galaxy S (Verizon) for about a good week or 2, and it's good so far. The only problem I have is texting; it won't send to certain people (although it would say that the text was sent). I called customer service, and they told me to delete all the 1's before the area codes before texting in all contacts and it should be fine.

I did that, and I can text now. But every time I lock the phone or exit out of messaging, the phone would automatically add an 1 in front of the number I'm trying to text. This wouldn't happen when I try composing a new message. So if I wanted to text, I would have to delete the existing conversation and compose a new message. This is obviously very irritating to do and I don't know how to fix this problem. When I check the contact information about the person, it doesn't say that there is a 1 added before the number, so it can't be the contacts. Any solution?

Also, if you need any more information to help me out, I'd be more than happy to provide them for you.

Or someone could just tell me how to make the phone stop adding 1's before each area code.

I've already deleted all the 1's in the actual contact information for each contacts, but as I've pointed out already, every time I exit the messaging app and get back in to the text, the 1 is added automatically to the number.

It might be a help if you said what country you are in, and the normal layout of phone numbers.

In the UK normal phone numbers start with 01 or 02 or 03, mobiles start 07, followed by an area code, followed by a six digit number. for example 01123 123456 or a mobile phone would be 07123 123456.

In the phone book, contacts, all phone numbers must be stored in this format. If I wish to store an international number, it must be stored in full with the international prefix added.

I have never had the phone adding any numbers to my stored contacts.

It is not an issue of the signal I'm getting. It's the issue of the phone impermissibly adding 1's after some of the numbers that I try to text. So far, I've only found out that it's 2 phone numbers that the phone keeps adding 1's to, so it's not that bad. However, it is a nuisance of having to constantly delete the thread every time I jump out of the thread. Not to mention I text with this person a lot.

Hey... I have the same problem.. I transfered all my numbers from my old Canadian iPhone and they all have +1 in front of the numbers (makes it easy to dial long distance in Canada).. now I can't send texts to anyone with a +1 in their number..

I guess it seems like I will have to manually remove the +1s.. damn.. this could take a while.. unless someone has any suggestions..

I have the Solution!!!!! It took me forever to Figure this out. First of all your contacts are loaded from your GMAIL account... So what you need to do is go into your gmail email account on the Computer and change all the contacts phone numbers if they have a 1 or a +1 in front of the number. Make sure to save it on your gmail.... Then unfortunately you have to factory reset your phone. I tried to get around factory reseting it but even though my contact didnt have the 1 in front of the number somehow the phone remembered that previously it had a 1 and automatically puts it in front of the number. Hope this helps everyone.
