as much as I've gotten used to the touch keyboard, I'd honestly be on Verizon right now if Hero and Droid1 had come out at the same time.
Processor speed aside.

It looks like the new Nexus is going to T-Mobile....UGH!!
BUT there is still hope for a cool new phone. AND rumor has it Sprint is going to drop the extra $10 fee for 4G capable phones.
Samsung flagship device coming in early 2011? | Android Central
Interesting info about the Nexus S & Sprint.
Rumors: Samsung Nexus S using fancy curved display Sprint had to pass on, HTC EVO Shift 4G is the Knight? -- Engadget
I'm confused. Does this mean the Nexus S is coming to Sprint? The title suggests that it isn't but the article suggests otherwise. And the Knight/Speedy/Shift 4G is 4G!?! I've been holding out for a better phone for nothing!!!?? Tempted to go get the Epic now!
I'm still standing behind my Optimus S. Awesome phone if you don't want a keyboard or 4g. Great upgrade from the Hero. I would have no probelm what so ever with 4g if they dropped that bogus $100 charge.
I may go to VZW if they don't stop with the 4G bull$hit
Until the VZW 4G bull$hit starts
And remember Sprint set a precedent with the $10 charge, I expect others to follow.
The world is out to get you
Glad to hear you're still loving your Optimus S after you've had some time with it. Does it do everything your Hero did? One of my hesitations is that they're calling it an entry level Android phone. I'm not sure what that means as far as it's capabilities go but it makes me think maybe it doesn't do as much as the Hero.
Every time Sprint announces a new phone that's 4G and/or has a physical keyboard I get that much closer to buying the Optimus S. I just know as soon as I do they will really some really cool phone that I'll kick myself for not waiting on!
What a difference a year makes! A year ago the Hero was Sprints flagship Android phone. The Optimus S is an "entry level" Android phone. IMHO the Optimus blows the Hero away!

Can't compare the Hero to the Optimus, different phone manufacturers, HTC has sense and not sure what the Optimus has, but oh well

I'm in the same boat. Upgrade rolled over last Monday. Went to the store and played with an Evo. We're in a 4G area and the speed was impressive, so the $10 pr month is a non-issue for me. I'd just like and idea of what might be coming down the linein the next three or four months. The Knight does look nice.
How so? Aren't they similary spec'ed?IMHO the Optimus blows the Hero away!

Evo, m'eh. Still not impressive to me. Call me back when the screen is a bit smaller (I'm not 6'2" w/ bear claws), the HDMI output is more functional; camera records h.264 1080p video at a respectable 30p+ fps, and the WiMax is replaced w/ LTE. Oh yeah, no obligatory 4G surcharges, just bundle it into the plan so I don't have to see it.
