Help is my battery life really THAT bad or is this normal??

so it seems like the only possible way of getting through a day without re-charging my phone is if i turn off wifi, 3g, sync, gps, everything...

usually i leave gps off and jusg leave 3g on, however one day i went in to work and left my phone in my locker ... i had just taken it off the plug when i went in and when i checked my phone on my meal break it was down to 18 percent!! it was not being used or anything. I feel like even with moderate use the battery will die within 6 hours.... less if i use it often. I took it in to the verizon store thinking i may have gotten a bad battery but the guy basically shewed me away and said that's just how the phone is.

I am thinking of getting the 3500mah battery , however i worry that maybe it's the phone itself that is bad? is it possible something may be wrong with my phone that is killing the battery??

anyway... is this normal?? what would you do?

Probably had no signal in the locker that's why the battery drained so quick. If it drains that quick everyday when you are confident the phone has decent signal then no that isn't normal. My phone lasts 15 or 16 hours with moderate use with 3g and gps on, using the stock battery.
FYI gps only uses battery when it's actually being used like when running navigation(you will see a little sattelite dish icon by the clock).

One thing that's definitely worth doing to see what the problem may be is just going into Settings --> About Phone --> Battery -->Battery Use

See what's using the most power. You can then find out what's draining all the battery. For me, barely using my phone for a few hours, it's about 26% Cell standby, 23% Wi-Fi (I have it set up to use Wi-Fi if available, if not use 3g), 18% Android System, 18% Phone idle, 15% Display.

If you're not getting a signal, of any kind in there, it should be burning through your battery with Cell Standby and the 3G mobile network

If you are not having a sleep problem I can see it being the weak signal causing your battery to drain. I have crappy reception at home and barely get a -95 signal. At work it is usually -70 to -65.
On days that I am home my battery dies much faster with less use than when I am at work using it a lot. I can go 10 hours at work and still have 80% left and when I get home it is at 30% in a matter of two hours somedays. I have seen it go the other way too. Home on a Saturday and the phone is at 40%. I get called in to work and after six hours it's at 30%. Signal strength is a big factor in battery life.
