I just tried Ultra Keyboard (trial version). It's okay but uninstalled it since there are things I found that really needs to be addressed.

1. Numpad numbers layout option.
2. Automatically capitalize letters after every sentence.
3. Automatically enters new words in the dictionary.

O BTW, Ultra Keyboard is now just $2.79.

Swype is still better in tracing and suggesting words for it. But Ultra does a decent job.

Is anyone trying SlideIT before they mindlessly buy Ultra?
I'll conceed that the little customizable menu is pretty sweet, and yeah free themes is awesome.

But for ACTUALLY TYPING & SWYPING SlideIT destroys Ultra. eight bucks, who cares. It's 8 bucks for goodness sake.

So if people don't jump on your endorsement, they're acting mindlessly?

??????? - Cyrket

The title is in Chinese, maybe that's why it's not mentioned here. I used to have this kb on my G1. Sadly, when I got my Nexus (and I really needed a software kb), the resolution screwed up the display. They have now released a version for HD devices. Try the CooTek kb within it. Swipe left/right/down for numbers and characters. Make sure you set all options to English. Only thing missing IMO is Voice Input Button.

I am using the demo of SlideIT. It is 99% accurate for me and fast.
I love the speech to text, and it overall works very well.
Being paranoid, I am concerned with the data collection, so when I do online banking, etc. I revert to the basic Android keyboard for safety.
For normal texting, SlideIt works for me.

Will I pay for the full version upon expiration, I am not sure.
For $3.99 maybe, for $8.00 maybe not.
The developer deserves compensation for his intellectual work,
but Bill Gates, he ain't.

i stumbled on this thread looking for themes for swype, apparently there is none for the new beta btw...but...after looking this over, and trying ultra and slideit, i have come to the conclusion that both are vastly inferior to swype...and i didnt even test them hard...i used the exact same 10 phrases (not particularly difficult ones either, no weird words i thought it wouldnt know...mind you im looking for a replacement for swype so i was wanting one of them to perform well) and tried to "slide" them on all three keyboards..slideit got 9 out of 10 unreadably wrong, and ultra did slightly better with a depressing 8 out of 10 unreadably wrong...swype managed to get every single one readable, with only 4 words wrong, out of all 10 phrases...much to my disappointment, there is no replacement for swype. it is the only keyboard that can do what it does

While I haven't tried either of those. I have always preferred shapewriter over swype for accuracy. I think you can still find the apk if you look around, they offered it for free when they shut down so I believe it's legal (if not, I can delete this suggestion). I've recently been using FlexT9 (Amz offered it as one of their freebies), which I prefer over swype as well, but I'm not sure I prefer it over shapewriter... it has a couple extra features though. And it works on my NC which is a plus as shapewriter wouldn't adjust size. If I could do it without rooting, I would get rid of swype on my Evo.

Addition: Also, please be aware that most of these programs (if I understand it properly) "learn" your swyping style. So if you've been using swype for months, but only use the other programs a day, it's not really a fair comparison. I would assume clearing the data on swype would reset it though, and then it might offer a legit comparison.
