Help How to get mp3 ringtones onto Captivate

Yes! It just needs to be in the Ringtone folder. The size doesn't matter, even though that is what Samsung customer support will tell you.

After spending a couple hours today between customer service and trying to make files small enough to work as ringtones, I came here, made the Ringtone Folder as described, moved the files there, and it works.

Thanks to all who shared this easy fix!

Ok so I am confused as all get out. I dl a mp3 ringtone onto my cappy. I went into the sub menu and selected to set it as voice call ringtone. It worked for a day, and now it won't. I tried the suggestion to make a ringtone folder on the sd card, but it still gives me the same options in the sub menu as before, and I cannot see it on my ringtone list under settings. What am I missing here??!!! (I know it has to be something simple and dumb lol)

All, I've used this method in the past and it's worked just fine. Lately though, I cannot seem to assign individual ringtones without getting the dreaded, "unable to attach. maximum file size is 300kb" error. My ringtones work fine for the entire phone, just not individual.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

FWIW - When I went to customize ringtones for contacts with Froyo, I only got two options for the source: Default ringtone and Phone ringtone (neither of which showed content that I had put in a Ringtones folder that I created on my external SD card). However, after I ran RingDroid the first time, now when I go to customize the ringtone for a contact, I have another option - Sound - which let's me pick any file anywhere on the phone. I suppose RingDroid change a flag or setting somewhere td add the "Sound" option.

HTH...

Hello All,

I used this app as suggested by others (quoted below) and it WORKS like a charm. :)
Other suggestions of creating folders, or menu options DID NOT work for me. Mostly, it could be due to different firmware or other things..

I would highly recommend it.

Thanks it worked like a charm...AND btw you're HOT! Yeah, someone had to say it and I'm glad I got first dibs :p

ok. so i've got to the point where i've got ringtones set as notifications. NOW. will someone please answer, how do i remove that mp3 from the notification list. i understand how to remove it completely. but it's still under my "notifications" along with the default ones. i'm tired of looking at them being up there (mainly because i have doubles and i wish to remove them) i've checked every forum, yahoo, and google search. and found nothing on how to remove it from the actual list. i would greatly appreciate it if someone would show me how.
