Root Is CyanogenMOD the best ROM for Droid 1 ?

I love it too! Everything works (although I would love to be able to turn off the volume rocker music control), battery life is good, and the teal blue (cyan, of course) screen saver clock at bedside is easy on the eyes. Looking forward to RC5 or a final release with even more customization options. I have never tried CM before and am very pleased with it... stole me away from Ultimate Droid 1 :D

I've been running CM6 on my Droid since release with P3Droid's 1GHz kernel and a swap partition enabled. My phone runs the way I want it and I have no interest in trying any other ROMs.

I had previously run various versions of Bugless Beast or Pete's stock but rooted ROMs.

The thing I like about CM6 is that it is compiled from source and that the devs are actual coders and not just repackaging APKs and making themes. I have the same opinion of all the other AOSP derived ROMs.

Any future phones I buy will need to have CM (or another quality AOSP ROM) available at the time of purchase.

A2DP Bluetooth is working brilliantly! Other than a few control options missing, I don't regret the switch at all. CM6.1 just ROCKS. I haven't found anything on the ROM that doesn't work. Can hardly wait for the final release to see what's it it :D

EDIT: BTW the nightly I want to flash is cm_sholes_full-191.zip right? I'd hate to flash the wrong one :p I'm 99% sure that's the one I want, though

Seems like everyday we get a new post about is a certain rom the best etc, guy you have to flash roms to figure whats best for you and your droid.Do some reading in the roms section before you post, it really gives you a better perspective on things. I normally look for the rom that gets the most post, normally they are the most popular at the time..BUt that time changes day by day it seems, It started with sholesmod, then droid mod, then everyone hit the scene, jrummy, chevy, pete with some bomb azz roms and even though those guys still do great work, seems like charity, shadow, liquid and blackdroid are popular right now, sorry if i left anyone out.

Chalk up another vote for CM. I've tried them all - Liquid Froyo, Charity, BB etc...

CM has been very stable, lightweight, and fast. I'm currently on the experimental builds (which have been just as stable so far). I like the widget in the drop-down shade and the new lock screen controls (straight to phone or messaging). The only thing I don't like is that ADW launcher is bundled and I prefer LauncherPro. It's not a big deal because I just uninstall ADW Launcher.

Most of all, I like the fact that CM is an open development team. Everyone has public access to nightly builds, bug reports, developer discussions, build info, etc... It's truly organized more like a development team than a mysterious figure who randomly drops a new version every few months. Plus, if I switch phones I know that CM has been ported to most of the major phones.

I've been with CM since the 5.x versions and it's consistently been the ROM I go back to. I try out UD, BB, and a bunch of other ROMs (my other favorite for a while was Sapphire), but CM is always the most stable for me, and it has features you just can't find anywhere else, save for UD. But UD has a pretty ugly theme and never ran as well on my phone as CM does.
