Hi guys,

Just got my HD Desire delivered today...

I have heard there is a battery trick for it to increase battery life as follows:

1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more
2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour
3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour

Is it best to do this on the very first charge?????

More importantly are these the correct instructions!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! :)

I don't think you really need to go through all that faf, my battery life has increased considerably after the initial few charges from when I got it..

First time I put it on charge; after a couple of hours it was fully charged (green light), didn't see much point in giving it any more - what would that accomplish?

I did make sure however for the first few charges to make sure I drained the device completely before putting it on charge again up to full in one go, repeated a few times and did notice a difference :)

Only apply to old batteries, I tried it and it does nothing other than make it appear 'full' for longer before dropping off quickly...not worth the hassle IMO

I can't see how this could increase the battery capacity, but I can see that it might reconfigure the battery profiler/charger.

I've followed this sequence and didn't see any difference, but I had put the battery through quite a few discharge/charge cycles already and the indicated battery life had, as a consequence (I assume), already increased a lot.

In my opinion its not really necessary to do all this with today's Lithium batteries.

The controller inside the battery just needs to be calibrated, so all you need to do is discharge it and recharge it a few times so it can do its wear level calculations. After a week of normal use, the battery should be running optimally.

Avoid keeping the battery fully flat or fully charged for too long as this can reduce the life of the battery. Lithium batteries are comfortable sitting at around the 50%-70% mark.

don't know if it will work on this, but some OS system store the battery fullness whilst on (due to overcharging of Lithium Battery). So sometimes when you charge the phone it never gets to 100%, probably around 90%. I have tried it on a couple of phones, turn your phone off for 2 minutes, plug it in the charger and then turn it back on, leave it to charge and when full remove and it seems to charge it a wee bit more... that's my experience.. LOL. Not tired it on DHD though. Getting the phone soon, so I can prove my theory out :D
