Help Going overseas, Optimum settings advice

I turned off data and roaming the whole time. Just stick to texts (if you need to) and use Wifi for emails. You can get a data plan for travelling, but it's still a giant ripoff.

I unlocked my phone and bought a Sim for 15E then another 12E bought me 500MB of data. That came in handy and is a good idea if you are only in one country - but once I crosed the border, I was back on travellers rates. The good thing is once my 12E ran out, even on travellors rates, they can't charge any more since it was prepaid.

So i don’t incur the Debt of a Small country!! Can you offer advice on the best settings/ Option to use to kill all Data! Even if the browser is accidently pressed by your kids wanting to play Angry Birds!!

Is it simply to kill the roaming? Or the Data traffic option? Or would you call the carrier to be doubly sure?

Still want to be able to use the Wi-Fi as it’s free in the Lobby!! Just checked the prices with Orange for Mexico and soaked my monitor with Tea on the prices quoted!

On this subject - I'm about to go overseas (see below) and have been concerned about data costs. I have got a UK prepaid SIM, so it's not too bad, but I have also noticed that there are significant "data leaks" with APNdroid in 2.1.
I could stop all data using APNdroid in 1.6, but it doesn't seem to work as well in 2.1 - I have "leaked" about 2MB this morning alone - and while we're not quite on Mexico prices, SA mobile data is still pricey.

Anyone had this problem? Anyone got a solution?
