What Makes The Battery So Bad?

What makes the battery in this phone so agononisingly bad?
Is the battery just too cheap? Is it the huge screen? OR IS IT THE ANDRIOD OS?

I think it is the andriod os why?
I use my phone regulary every day, mostly when i m at school ( 8-15) but only for music.
The screen is always on indle ( as i use the pause/play next/previous buttons that came with the earphones ) wifi,3g widgets all off so there is no excuse.
Its only the OS running

Here is what has been using my battery:

Andriod OS 64%
Display 14%
Cell standby 7%
Phone idle 6 % :rolleyes:

Mediaserver 5% ( dont even know what this is how to turn it off)
wifi 4%

So i think or atleast hope an update in the OS can help the phone use less resourses and extent its battery life

Please correct me if i m wrong

Tiny capacity which makes it crap, here's mine

10hr 16m 30% batt

Display - 63%
Android System - 8%
Cell standby - 7%
Phone idle - 6 %
Swype - 3%
Android OS - 2%

And that's with fairly heavy usage.

Mine lasted 14 hours after the very first charge, that included a lot of playing and setting up (angry Birds, Transfering Contacts, E-mail Addresses, etc etc) and has steadily improved every charge, 3g is auto, screen on 50%, wifi on only when needed, same with gps. the battery is great...!

And you haven't did any of these tricks? :

- fixing the /INIT problem
- turn USB debugging ON
- Conditioning the battery with the special charge sequence?

i`ve fully charged the battery and let it drain right down till the phone switches off then fully charged it again for the last 2 charges, thats all, haven`t even looked at the USB/init thingy..!

Few rounds of Angry birds/solitaire and my one is down to yellow. Haven't tried any tricks to get the power up so might try them.

Android OS is still quite new, so it will take some time to polish everything and make it more efficient. Apparently 2.3 improves efficiency so hopefully we will get an extra hour or two out of it.

It will be happy days when/if the new Carbon Nanotube batteries are released. 10x the capacity will change everything.

I've decided to post my stats up after continued concerns over battery life. Apart from on standby today I have checked my emails for 2 minutes and taken 30 photos (in quick succession over a 5 minute period. Stats are

Android OS 80%
Cell Standby 4%
Display 4%
Phone Idle 4%
Calendar 4%
Camera 2%
Android System 2%

Android System has been the greedy pig in this by far. Clicking on that brings up

CPU Total 6h 33m 52s

Data Sent 22.06KB
Recieved 339.71KB

Was unplugged for 10h 14m 9s, went from full charge to 3%

Something is seriously wrong!

Not changed any settings from start, have WiFi off, 3G on

Weather widget running as well as Friend Stream. Task killer also runs in background but I rarely use it
