That is great news !! (I was pretty sure that Galaxy S would release this month or dec 1st week, despite the rumours. But, was tired of waiting

)

Anyway, I'd still like to find out the solution to my problem. Namely, voice actions not working everything being identified as a search action when using English(India)..
I'm tired of changing the ROM's, please help..

(Unlike others, it's a pain for me, as I don't have net at home and have to resort to download using my mobile)..

Would love to know your opinion on the official froyo, though. For eg, battery life, voice actions, general speed,swype version(is it still the buggy 2.44.?) etc..

Guys, since the official Froyo is out; I want to try it out but I am currently on FROYO_DOC_V8_JPO with NO-RFS advanced EXT4 lagfix. I had backed up the stock Eclair DDJG4 using ROM manager; so can I restore that and then flash official Froyo using Kies?

Those on Doc's ROM: No need to downgrade.. Doc's ROM is wayyyyyy faster than stock firmware..

@kalpik, I love the DOC_KALPIK rom but I would like to see how much better the DOC_KALPIK ROM is as compared to the stock so as to further appreciate the work gone in behind making the DOC_KALPIK rom

Upgrade is complete and the first impression is good... Its smooth and definitely better than eclair in terms of lagging

One good thing is that it has retained all my settings, apps, contacts etc... as it was before the upgrade.

Keep post you with more findings...

That's good to know.

Could you please help me regarding my previous query?
(Also, that zip align fix, you were supposed to run it just after the flashing to the new rom was done, right? by selecting "install from zip file", then browsing to the "zip-align fix. zip " file, same as what you do for installing the ROM right?)..

And another thing, how much free RAM are u supposed to have, if you end all applications? (For me, with "aggressive" settings, it may be just 130-140, will have to check

.. Am I doing anything wrong?)

Hi Guys,
I just completed the upgrade to Froyo using Kies. After the update I seem to notice that the phone is extremely slow in responding to touch and most screens take a long time to load. I've killed all tasks using ATK (thankfully, all the apps are not wiped off during the upgrade).

Is it required for me to do a Factory reset after the upgrade?

After upgrading to froyo I'm not able to backup My Contacts, Messages using Kies. Getting Error at 3%.

Any one facing same problem?

just finished synchronizing with outlook no problem. Just did to answer the query. But you should have done so before the upgrade and if you did do it then why try it now ??

guys its gr8 news finally the official froyo is here for india, but I am scared using kies to update...and moreover my phone is not connecting to kies...pls tell me how to do it via ODIN the safe way...I am on DDJG4 updated via ODIN

Did it with kies. I like the overall idea but the phone is really sluggish. I've never had a problem with DDJ4 which is why I never did anything to it. Now however ...

try doing factory reset after update, read it at many places

still I am not planning to use kies...can someone plss post steps how to do it via ODIN

kies is not all connecting to my phone I did all the fixes and now I am scared using it bcoz many have bricked their phone

I saw in samfirmware they had released seems we can do it via ODIN

Updated to froyo..

Its faster...but yes u do need a factory reset after upgrade else it lags like hell....

I have just installed 2.2 on my SGS and it is not lagging much but I was thinking of doing a factory reset. The only question is that will it affect any of apps installed or do I need to create a backup before doing 'Factory Reset'

Btw I was looking for new features of 2.2 and I can't find many of them on mine. For e.g.
1. new user interface for the gallery
2. new UI for managing applications

Apart from these 2, are there any APPARENT modifications/ improvement that a normal user would recognize.

Thanks a lot for the detailed list of what is new in 2.2.

I found one new feature that you can pinch and zoom in the App listing as well.

However, one question remains that whether a factory reset would erase any of the data installed on the phone (e.g. apps , contacts etc.)

Heya,

I didn't try it out earlier, and I can't try it out now because it's asking me for a data connection. Mine's disabled for some reason (I don't think it's because of FroYo hehe).
I'll post it as soon as I find out.
