Help Changes that FroYo(build DDJP6) brings about to the Galaxy S

Here are two more:
1. In Eclair you could change screen brightness from the home screen by swiping across the notification bar; this does not seem to work in Froyo anymore. I really liked this option and hope there is some way to enable this.

2. Call Logs in eclair is just Logs now showing even your messaging logs along with call logs.

Heya SGSI,

1. This feature is still available. The only problem is that while you're sliding your finger across the Notification bar, the bar disappears, but as you continue sliding along that area, the brightness changes accordingly.

2. Yep, and you can also specify what Logs you would like to be displayed by tapping the "Menu" softkey.

Thanks for that; not as intuitive as in eclair. Actually you need to press and hold near the notification bar till it disappears and then sliding across it changes the brightness. I guess the change has been done because sometimes the brightness was changed unintentionally while pulling down the notification bar.

Yes, I believe you're right about the reason and although not as intuitive, it saves a little trouble. There were a lot of times when the brightness went to the maximum level when I tried to pull down the Notification Bar :p

Oh is that in TouchWiz? I had noticed that earlier, and it's also happening with me in FroYo - the empty space. Although, there was a way to fill that gap by tapping the "Menu" button and selecting the "Edit" option to move icons around, within and between the App Drawer(Application pages) Screens. Is that what you're referring to? :p

You're saying you could drag and drop icons in 2.1? Lol I couldn't

After installing Froyo JP6, I've got a new application called Press Reader. But when I try to open the application, there pops a message saying , "Service will be available soon"

Yeah, I also noticed this. Wonder when that will be made available.

Yea Ryan, I could. That's weird! :p

Okay before I add it to the list - Has anyone else experienced a massive battery drain after upgrading to FroYo? I've been getting a 20 hours battery life since the past 2 days after a full charge up. Whereas in Eclair, I used to get roughly 45 hours out of the same usage! The battery life seems to have halved.
I did see a few other threads on this, but I'm still not sure what the problem is. The "Running Services" are the basic ones, less than the ones I had running on Eclair in fact.
The Display uses up 85%... o_O

In Eclair when I got a message from say my Bank or from my service provider (those which do not have a number but address such as "TD-Amex", "AX-Airtel") the from field would have the address label ("TD-Amex", "AX-Airtel", etc.) but now in Froyo all these are clubbed under "Anonymous" which is a bit irritating. Anybody else seeing this?

i havent updated to Froyo yet (still using stock 2.1 [ddjf3] + lagfix), but just wanted to point this out:

'21. To directly 'mute' an incoming Call instead of reducing the volume using the Volume Rocker, you can press the "Power" Button. You can't unmute it this way though. (contributed by 'sebyyy' )'

This has already been available on my 2.1 firmware, pressing the volume rocker during an incoming call mutes it instantly.

Thanks for the compilation list of features though, quite informative.

After upgrading to Froyo, I noticed that the "Downloads" section in the Market app is empty, even though I have installed lot of apps! Not sure if I will receive notifications on updates, looks like I will need to do a factory reset & reinstall all my apps again.

If you go into Settings, Applications, Manage Applications then Back to get out all your apps will re-appear in the Downloads section in Marketplace - at least it worked for me!

Thanks Cynick! I'll tweak the sentence a little, because it doesn't work with the Volume Rocker anymore, but only with the Power Button.
