So my Droid was snatched from me on the Metro(subway) today and it took me about 40 minutes before I could get to a computer to try to lock/track/wipe it via WaveSecure. Unfortunately, none of the commands were acknowledged, probably because the phone was off. I waited a couple more hours before finally suspending my account, hoping the thief would turn it on so it would get the WaveSecure commands via SMS. I have no hope of ever getting it back and I'm 7 months from upgrade eligibility so I picked up a TracFone so I can at least communicate with the wife until I decide what to replace the Droid with.
So... what do I replace it with that I won't hate after being spoiled with the goodness of CM6? I guess I'm wanting to hear from previous Droid owners and their experiences with the phones available now.
There's always the Droid2 and R2D2 but I'm really hating the post-Droid lockdowns on the Motos.
And why would anyone steal a smartphone nowadays, knowing its tracking capabilities and service brickability once it's reported stolen?
