A question on reception and signal. Through a couple of handset exchanges, I was not able to resolve a basic issue on 1x voice calling. At first, it looked like the phone simply had horrible 1x reception. However, what really emerges to be the case is that it's incredibly sensitive to how you hold the phone. Grasp most phones tightly and it won't affect the signal much. Grasp the Droid tightly, and, unless you're holding the top end of the phone and leaving the bottom (antenna) end absolutely clear, your signal will drop quickly by 10 to as much as 20dbm. I've had to relearn how I hold the phone and frankly, I don't feel as secure with the new way because I feel prone to dropping it. I only put it up with it because the Droid is so much more suitable for me than the Blackberry Storm 2 on IMAP email synchronization, keyboard and online search. I chalk it up to the Droid's heavy use of metal in the phone which I think is creating kind of a Faraday cage effect around the antenna.

Are you finding that customers are having wildly varying experiences on voice call reception? I think it really could be due to different ways in which people are holding their phones as they talk. And also, how are you finding the Droid stacks up compared to other phones on reception and signal?

I have a droid eris, not a Motorola Droid, but I figured you may be able to help me. I have a couple questions.

1. Tried opening a PDF file (2mb) on my gmail application. Tried to open "PDF Viewer" and it said "file can not be viewed. I know the PDF is a good file because it opened just fine on my computer. I have tried to open other PDF's and they work just fine. Any suggestions?

2. Tried to open a video as a wmv file on my gmail application. Loaded fine with sound only, no video. Any Suggestions?

3. Is there a screen lock feature where you can put your phone in your pocket while on your bluetooth headset?

I'm having a lot of trouble with the in call sensor. For some reason the proximity sensor doesnt work with my face. I took it into a Verizon store and they warrantied it out, however, my new phone is worse than the first. They told me it must be the way I hold the phone. Do you have any advice on how to handle this situation? I love the phone but hate that I continually hang up or mute people.

Had three email accounts (charter, godaddy and blackberry) working fine on my blackberry for over a year. "Upgraded" to the Eris on Thursday and spent all yesterday on the phone with tech reps (charter, verizon, and HTC) trying to get my charter email working. I finally got the incoming server going and can receive emails to the Eris. But, cannot get the SMTP server to work. If I try to reply/originate emails they go/stay in the Outbox. Have not even started on the other two accounts...(help...) Ron

I am looking for a way to set up a distinmct audible notification for Voice mail coupled with trhe abiltiy to have it remind me every 5 minutes audibly if I have not listened to the message. So far all I see is a visual notification in the notification area. In order to be aware of that I must be near the phone when the VM arrives plus I have no way of distinguishing it from any other notification on the phone.

Hi Viperboy - Droid q for you. When my Droid is connected via bluetooth to my Ford SYNC, occasionally the bluetooth looses connection. When the connection is re-established the Music program (that came factory loaded on my droid) starts automatically. I have not found a way to keep this from happening using any of the settings functions in Music. I also have not found a way to delete the music app. Any ideas on how to keep the Music program from auto starting when connecting via bluetooth? I'd also take any help you can offer on how to keep my bluetooth from disconnecting from the SYNC system. Thanks!

Can you tell me how to save pictures that come to me through text messaging into my album? My son has a regular droid and he can just press on the picture and it gives him the option - mine doesn't. When I select the menu for the pic I only get options for - set as contact icon, footnote, wallpaper, or lockscreen. Thank you

I have has an issue since the update with my Motorola Droid. The issue is that the screen goes blank randomly. Everytime I am in a call, the screen will go blank and I have no way to end the call. I have to pull the battery out each time this happens and then it will work fine for a short time ( a couple of hours) and then start blanking out again!

Being opressed but on the notification bar...it will have the mic wit a slash over it ..and by the time I can get to clear it the caller has hung up ...WTF?

Hey everyone. I just registered for this site. Seems like a great place to be. I do Tech Support for Verizon in-store and know all of the phones pretty well. I am here to answer any questions you might have (let's try to keep it related to the Droid) that you might not have the answer to. Please keep in mind, I'm not a developer and I'm not going to be able to tell you that why such and such app isn't working on your phone. I'm here to answer questions related to Verizon and how the Droid works with Verizon's network and any tech related questions related to the Droid.

Feel free to ask whatever questions you have, and mods, if there is a better place for this thread, please feel free to move it

Here's a question. I'm moving onto Tmobile with an android and GF is on verizon with a blackberry. Is there a good messaging app that we both can download similar to Blackberry messenger thats fast and stable. I really would like to save some money if possible. Thanks
