Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

i did the kernal update.. and now i try to boot and it says

bootloader
30.01
err:a5,70,00,0023

battery OK
OK to program
transfer mode:
USB

... please help

Oooh boy. That's the original bootloader for the X for 2.1. You can get your system back but it's not going to be pretty.

First you need to find the SBF for 2.1 and flash it. Then, do the OTA updates to get you to 2.2/2.2.1 (not sure which it will do). Let us know what the versions on the system menu say after that.

of course you can.

at the home screen, hit menu, edit.

I love it when I learn something new! I had been using LPP until the previous update and I thought I would give ADW a chance, heck Fab was using it so it can't be all bad right? Anyway it just seems so much more lightweight and still does everything I want in a launcher.

My only concern now is with so many of us donating to your beer fund are you going to be able to drink that much?? :)

I literally did the same exact thing lastnight, tired of LPP widgets screwing up, figured what the heck. Loving ADW, and the themes are awesome too.

Hey Fab,

The QuickOffice bug seems to have popped up again in 1.3. Was getting it in 1.0.2.2 until I applied the hotfix, now am getting it again.

Otherwise, awesome ROM! It is amazing to me that OEMs like Motorola and Samsung have teams of developers and produce such crap, and independent developers like you, and teams like TBH, can produce FAR better and more amazing stuff.

Maybe OEMs should start to hire Android Hackers to make their Android Skins better.

Use the .apk found in the hotfix in the older apeX 1.2 thread. Had the same issue as you and a couple of others here. Uninstalled QuickOffice / re-installed with the .apk found in the hotfix .zip and all is good. I think it happens when I load the Rev theme??

Not sure how to keep it from unzipping. As soon as I click the link it begins unzipping. Maybe its a mac thing?

Right click and save target as.

Weird thing happened today...I was messing with the overclocking app and my X rebooted into bootstrap recovery, so I chose to reboot the system and on my reboot I noticed that I lost my boot animation. Once I unlock my X and start messing around with stuff, I realize that it essentially reverted to two days ago. Has anyone had this problem, or was it just a glitch somehow?

I had that problem once with apex 1.0.2.2. I had it reboot, then my phone wasn't overclocked on boot and overclock lost root, and a couple of other programs that I had installed a week before, and all my settings had changed... So I installed .340 and upped to apex 1.3 So I will look for that same problem.

Thanks OP for the great rom! :D

Fab, this is my first rom and it is fantastic. No theme, don't need one. I did change some notification icons using Droidpirate but my Droid X is now Fabulous. I have found one thing I would appreciate you taking a look at. On the stock rom when I took a pic and went to share it would ask if I would like to resize the pic so that it would send easier. Now it just sends and with an 8 mp photo that is a huge file to share. Any way to get that option back? Sorry, I know you are tired of being picked on.

Am I the only one having tons of problems with this rom? Every other apex build I've used has been fantastic. This one, for some reason, gets lots of FC's. Launcher pro will FC like 20 times in a row relentlessly. I've tried clearing data, uninstall/reinstall, etc, no dice. Also, yesterday dialer wouldn't work, it would just open and close back out. Tried clearing data on that as well. I have sbf'd and tried a clean install multiple times on the rom, but still keep getting the same issues.

If you are using LP, have you gone in to spare parts and turned off the animation with the ROM? I know in the past this has caused issues if you were running LP. It sounds like that could be the issue since it is only happening when you are using LP or going to something from there.

Yeah, that's typically the first thing I do in these Roms, just because I want my windows opened instantly anyways. I guess I'll give it a try again later without restoring some apps in TiBu.

I have just rooted my X for the first time and I really like this theme/rom. Can I just install this to my X as is or do I need to do anything else to my X to make this work. I have the "droid X bootstrap" app and the "ROM Manager" I really I have everything backed up and if I mess up my phone i can easily just do a factory reset. Do I just put the zip file on the root of my SDcard and then do a recovery boot and install it from there? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you are on the .340 update, yup!
