I just put this rom on my droid. I flashed the Chevy ulv 1.25ghz kernel, and for some reason my phone is acting slow and sluggish at times (most of the time), and it is making me want to through it out the window. I just rooted my phone last night. Should I try different kernels?

Edit: I do already have setpcu set at 550/250 charging/full, 550/250 battery<29%, 250/250 screen off, 550/250 temp > 50C

also, setpcu says it is running at ~35C

I'm new to all the rooting and was running just a stock setup with Launcher Pro and overclocked at 800mhz. I did a lot of reading in the forums trying to decide which Rom to go with. I wanted something based on the latest update frg83d and I wanted to run the new market and have all my apps up to date. After trying UD 2.4 and being dissapointed I switched to Charity and I'm very pleased. No issues with Wifi or Tether (in case there are others, I'm using Wireless Tether 2.0.2). I think i did learn you have to enable access control so the computer finds the android tether and then disable it to get the internet flowing. I was able to easily update the market through clockwork and all my apps moved over perfectly. So far so good and very pleased with the dark backgrounds and status bar. I also like the gingerbread keyboard, lockscreen, and performance. so far battery life is as good or improved over stock. Anyways for others that are new and nervous about rooting and which Rom to try. This may be best to start with and stay with till gingerbread is out. I'll be donating to Charity soon. Can i write that off on my taxes? :)

Great post! This is one of the best roms I have used, and plan on staying with it for a long time. I have never been able to get wifi tether to work. USB tether works great. Might be that I am running a version of Ubuntu linux on my laptop that wifi tether won't connect.

Nope i tried a different computer and im still in the boot loop, any other sugestions?

Try downloading it directly to your phone.

I'm not sure what's causing this, I'm looking into it. Right now you are the only one who has reported this problem, but it is still worrisome to me.

It could possibly be the kernel, which is now ultra low voltage.

Try installing this file: http://chevyno1.richstevenson.com/froyo/kernels2/ChevyNo1-0.8Ghz-medV-7slot-update.zip

After installing the ROM, but before booting. It is an 800mhz Medium Voltage kernel by chevyno1.

Please report back!

Thanks,
Dan

i have the same problem. tried installing the rom numerous times, then also tried the mv kernel, still stuck in the boot loop. am i doing something wrong? i renamed the rom file to update to see if that made a difference. and it didn't. help would be nice. want this rom!

edit: still trying to install v10, wont try 11 till i get 10 working.

you could always rename it update.zip, if you do it in windows it ads the .zip for you, and reboot into recovery the old fashion way? I mean if you already have a back up

I did that as well. I tried the old fashion way and through ROM manager. and i'm currently using a windows 7 based computer. idk maybe i'm skipping a step somewhere. i've got to be doing something wrong. I had to root my phone using the rsdlite method due to the FRG22(i think thats what it was) build.

FYI I reported earlier no wifi problems. Well I tried the new BB V.6 and didn't like it so I came back to Charity via a rom restore in Rom manager. Guess what? I had wifi issues. it wouldn't connect automatically when i turned wifi on. I had to turn on airplane mode for a second and then turn it off to get wifi to work. Well that wasn't cool so i tried to restore my charity backup again and made sure i wiped everything and still same problem. So i reinstalled charity in rom manager instal rom from zip and all is well again. Maybe that will help someone else.

I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome Froyo 2.2.1 Based ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here: http://androidforums.com/droid-roms...oyo-2-2-1-built-source-brand-spankin-new.html

I don't think asking for personal donations is in line with the ideas behind open source software. Thus, I have decided to collect donation money for charity.

Please Donate, read below...

ALL (100%) of the money will go to NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION: Oil Disaster Recovery. I will be fully transparent in this process and will show any donors proof of the organization's receipt. I know this is a new idea, I hope it catches on. Please check out the organization at:

Instructions...

Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".

File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.

Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG9-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
Reboot.

SPRecovery
Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
Select Allow update.zip Installation
Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
Reboot.

If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.

choc, the ulv kernel has been changed to lv, just wipe and install!

save yourself a step and install the latest and greatest:
http://androidforums.com/droid-roms...ass-themed-version-11-froyo-2-2-1-frg83d.html

is the newer version working good? i mean..... does it saves battery live likes this one (v.10)?

can i just wipe data and cache then install this zip without flashing another else m8?

well..... to be honest, i always afraid that flashing any kernel will affect my phone number setting (like MDN, IMSI and AKEY) because the operator doesnt give any for now and for some reason
