Root Rooted on 2.1, updated to OTA 2.2 - Unrooted

I rooted my phone on 2.1 and didn't unroot before updating to the official 2.2. Now it seems that it is unrooted but the SU app is still there. I tried a factory reset but to no avail. I tried to root it again with unrevoked but its getting stuck at 'Waiting for root..(safe to restart if this doesnt work)'. I had rooted my 2.1 using unrevoked only a week back. Any advice on how I can root it again would be helpful. At the moment its working smoothly but i would prefer to root it.

There doesn't seem to be a corresponding RRU..

is that branded?
which network are you with?

EDIT: seems you are on a new arabic rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9597525#post9597525

also seems theyve changed something, maybe theyve patched the backdoors for adb
go to hboot and give us the hboot version numbers

EDIT2: seems that user doesnt know how to use ADB/fastboot as it says device not found when using the downgrader script

coolio, your hboot should be ok then. pvt3 is a common hardware build of desire

bascally you were running an ARA build of OS that pushed an update, this update is brand new and the last leaked version of OS is very old for ARA and will not be compatible if your device is SLCD.
the best you can do is get all the hboot, fastboot, adb drivers installed correctly
use teppics downgrader to take it to an earlier slcd compatible stock rom then root it and flash what ever rom you want via recovery.
dont use ota updates on rooted devices. disable the checking in options

this is deffo a ARA build os and not HTC stock unbranded

hi guys,

I think I'm facing the same issue as km009. I had rooted my 2.1 unbranded Desire using Unrevoked and I went in for the 2.2 OTA..it is the same arabic ROM as km009

Software Information:
Android version : 2.2

except that the HBOOT is different

BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT - 0.93.001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL - SYNW0101
RADIO - 5.11.05.27

Now its unrooted and I tried rooting it using Unrevoked 3.22, but my phone is not detected. I still have the SuperUser app on my phone. Everything looks the same except that while running Titanium Backup, it showed that it doesn't have superuser permission anymore.

Any thoughts on what I can do to root my phone again?

yeah EddyOS..been doin a bit of reading..tried using unrEVOked 3.22..the HBOOT USB part went well..but on running the reflash package, it just waits to detect my phone. Why would that happen?

Probably due to accepting an OTA, screwing with everything.

I'd recommend flashing with an RUU back to stock (completely) and starting again from scratch.

You may need to downgrade though, if you're 2.32

Eddy?

;)

thanks danfrance..or do u think i shud wait for another release of unrevoked that might work wit 2.32 instead of downgrading and starting from scratch?

The thing is, we don't know the full extent of what the OTA has done.

It may be alright (although no idea when next unrevoked will be).

If you downgrade and flash to stock, then re-root, you can then apply any backups you had previously...

Assuming you had backups?

I was unable to backup my ROM using ROM manager. It kept giving me an error message (an android screen with an exclamation mark). So I guess this means I'll have to wait for unrEVOked to come up with something. I don't think anything has gone wrong after the OTA. All seems to work fine. Any way I can verify this?
