This is it!!! This is the last stop before I ditch the Vibrant

I loved my phone the day I got it. I even lived with the quirky GPS problem just cause of how much I loved. My dog even chewed on my first phone and it barely even left a mark.

Then the ota update just ruined my phone. All the issues everybody was having, I was having. All of them. I did a headset exchange and I am having the same exact problems as before. I bought the phone outright for the full retail price so I am extremely pissed about this.

After being on the phone for over an hour, several transfers, and the best solution they could come up with was to do an upgrade for a new phone at the discounted price of 150 and a new contract. At this point I was livid. Not only was this an insult, but the guy tried to tell me that he was shocked to hear that I was having a problem cause he has never heard of anybody having an issue with the GPS or any issue at all after the OTA update.

After getting the ETF price, he transferred me one more time. This girl was extremely helpful. She advised me to do one more exchange and if i was still unhappy, I would be eligible for a different handset free of charge.

I am scared that the next exhanged phone will still have the same issues so I am preparing myself now. This is where I am hoping you guys can help with your opinion. What other phone you guys consider if you were in my shoes? I am also thinking about leaving Tmo all together and going to Sprint for their family plan and the Evo.

I would give the Vibrant another try. If it still doesn't suit your needs, try to stay calm and hold out for some new phones coming out in the next few months. The evo is already outdated in my opinion. Old screen, old cpu, old phone.

Also, all of the carriers have horrible customer service, but T-Mobile is the best out of all the cr*p. t-mobile has gone down hill, and it went downhill fast, but trust me, they are still nicer and easier to work with than verizon, sprint, or at&t. Recently, Verizon latterly gave me a nervous breakdown, I have never been in that state of mind in my life. It was a stressful situation and in my opinion legal action should be taken against a company who treats customers the way they did, I seriously started getting chest pain dealing with them a couple weeks past.

Stick with t-mo, just be patient. Do a google search for LG Optimus 2x.

Thanks for the advice. What do some of you guys think of the mytouch 4g or g2 compared to the vibrant. Those are the only two viable options from Tmo if this last vibrant doesn't work out.

I wouldn't get either of those phones, we are on the cusp of great new phones with dual core, just hang tight a little longer. Plus I never want anything smaller than a 4 in screen.

I would give another Vibrant a try. Other TMo phones id try would be the MY4G or the Windows HD7.

You know the Evo seems to bea good phone but everybody that i know and have read that has one says the battery life is atrocious.

Thanks. I got 90days to do the exchange if this one doesn't work out. Hopefully it does but if it doesn't, I gotta hope that something comes out in the beginning of Q1.

I have the g2 and very happy with it. It is a lot faster and smoother. I would go to the tmo store and take a look at one. It actually feels like you bought something and the response is even better. If you're thinking about the mytouch 4g the speed to me is the same but if you want video chat and can't wait for the dual core the mytouch is your answer.
P.s. The battery life on the g2 is the best ive seen.

I would also agree w/ this. But if his next Vibrant is crap and needs a phone, what do you do? Id rather wait for the dual core phones as well and when they do come out and i can get one without spending a bundle, im going to do that as well.
Thats why i hate signing a two year deal. Thats too damn long when they are pumping out phones like this.

Thats why I usually buy my phones outright. I know its expensive but its better than paying the ETF. My wife still has a year left on her contract.

Yes but i think paying $500 for a phone for a year is robbery. I dont like signing up for two years but $500 is just too much for a year. And some guys who are phone fanatics dont even wait a year. Can see blowing so much money on phones.

Those phones don't hold a candle to the Vibrant IMO and I've checked both of them hands on. I had the option of changing brands or going with a warranty replacement on the Vibrant. The rep who did the replacement assured me that my new phone would not have GPS issues etc. And he was right. Before you make a decision read what happened to me with a warranty exchange to a new Vibrant. To sum up, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a Vibrant that works the way they should have from day one back in July.

Here's what happened in more detail:

about the only phone i could see worth an exchange is the htd hd7, which is a windows 7 phone. sure, it's not android... but if you have xbox live, and a zune account, it would be worth it. even if you don't have a zune account, you can start one up and for $15/month you get unlimited downloads. and wp7 i think is going to be the king of gaming in the future, just cause of the gaming background and xbox live arcade. my next phone may possibly be wp7. however, as far as android phones, as of right now the vibrant is the best tmobile has to offer, unless there is some way to exchange it for the nexus s. but that's probably only if you bought your vibrant from best buy!

Just curious why you say buying the phones outright is "better than paying the ETF." I think that the ETF would be substantially lower than the outright purchase price on the Vibrant at full pop.

....and I'm going to slyly (sp?) reply to a few different people here. While I agree after looking at both the MT4G and G2 phones, you're right individually, they don't hold a candle to the Vibrant. However, I jumped the Vibrant ship on Tuesday and took up the MT4G. Now, hear me out....
1. I was able to get $300 cash for it
2. My T-mobile guy inside tipped me off about the official update not happening soon, (Didn't care, but more on that in a minute)
3. I'm a data whore, and like the Wu Tang Clan, 4G ain't nothing to f!@* with.
4. The GPS is spot on, (and super fast) I'm sure I found Bin Laden last night.
5. The speaker is clearer
6. Without having to add a "lagfix" or overclock, the phone is much snappier.

The only 4 things I miss about the Vibrant:
1. The screen was amazing
2. It was super light
3. The Contacts,Contacts management, and contacts integration were incredible compared to anything I've seen in a while.
4. Easily rooted for my enjoyment.

Now the whole Froyo thing, doesn't mean a damn thing to me, I've had the phone for days and haven't hit a website that could take advantage of Flash, so I can't even tell you if it works, although it doesn't look very good.

After slapping LauncherPro on it, it looks just like the UI I was using on the Vibrant. I'm going to have to get used to the contacts integration thing big time, but that's more a matter of a learning curve for me.

T-mobile has throttled me to death with the amount of data, (and I don't even tether) I consume and cousin, in NYC, 4G is fan****ingtastic! Just for my own instant gratification I downloaded all of my old aps from the Vibrant, they were instantainous on 4G, and even faster on WiFi, why? because there's a b/g/n adapter!

Yes the screen on the MT4G is crappy in comparison, but honestly I only watch movies when I'm on the subway, and I've started downloading HD quality movies anyway that unlike the Vibrant, I can just throw into the phone and play as a divx file without converting it.

Lastly and I mentioned this as one of the virtues of the Vibrant. The contact handling on the MT4G is far and away one of the worst and most illogical things I've seen, ever. I mean it's like trying to manage a screwed up iTunes library. And the constant linking of every thing that can be synchronized on a network is maddening.

I'm not going to hate on the Vibrant, I got it on launch day, and it served me for 5 months. I just prefer raw function over aesthetics. I'm also the guy that gets a new phone every 6 to 12 months. I've been eyeing some of the dual core phones, and I can tell you the first T-mobile HTC 4" screen dual core Android phone that drops with Honeycomb, I'll be there. (I just hope it's not too soon after Christmas)

Also as a side note, robo21, thanks for the advice and guidance in my previous thread. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity and be kicking myself the next time something stupid happened to my phone in or out of warranty.

Congratulations on your new MT4G and good luck with it. ;) I hope that it meets and even exceeds your expectations.

Because me and my wife both have a family plan with tmobile and if we both want to jump ship they said we'd have to pay two ETF. Besides, I use the tmobile payment installment plan for the phones so its no big deal. I don't like being tied down to a contract.

no matter how you look at it, your still paying a lot more to have no contract. It is only a benefit if you actually cancel early because if you want to get another phone in a year, you have to pay full price again.

I like having no contract obligations too and had that for a while since i was way past my expiration date but i was happy with the service so it didnt do me any good. I only think two years is too long to be tied down to one phone.

No matter how I paid for it, I don't think I can own this phone anymore. I just got the new one yesterday and the navigation is still ****ed. I asked for directions to a well known destination and it took me to the middle of the street and said I have reached my destination. I was a good 1/4 mile away from where I needed to be. I tried making a couple of phone calls today and my screen just said that it was dialing, nothing else was happening. I had to turn it on and off just to get it to work. Between the broken promises and problems, this might be my very last Samsung I ever own.

I may wait to see if Tmo announces any new phones for Q1 but I don't know if I can wait that long.

You just got another new Vibrant and that one is messed up too? Talk about bad luck if that is the case. You sure they arent sending you used or referbished ones? Just sounds too bizarre.

Yeah bro, this one is messed up. When I put it on the maps screen the blue arrow jumps all over my neighborhood and then it tells me my location is temporarily unavailable.

It looks new cause the other replacement I got didn't have the blue protective stickers all over the sim card or sd card slot. I can't tell for sure if its new or not but I'm hoping it is

Tmobile's customer service is officially garbage now. They lied to me about a replacing my Vibrant with a totally different phone. Today they pretty much told me to kick rocks after I explained to them whats still going on. They really don't care if they retain me as a customer. They said there was no noting in my account from any of the 3 cust reps that I talked to about product replacement but there was notations advising me that I wasn't eligible. It makes me feel like all it was was 3 people sitting next to each pretending to be from different departments telling me that I would be eligible just to get me off the phone. I find out today that Samsung doesn't participate in this program. Probably b/c they know that this phone is p.o.s.

This is my 3rd Vibrant in 1 week. I'm probably going to wait till the end of Q1 to see what phones go to which carrier till I decide what I'm going to do. The basic fact that Sprint has offered me 2 unlimited everything lines on the Evo's is what I'm leaning towards cause I don't know if I want to give these douche bags any more of my money but I know that I should wait till the new android devices are introduced
