Ok so for the last 4-5 weeks or so my Epic 4G will display this message at random.
"A network Connection Error has occurred"
And it gives me the option to "Retry Or Cancel"
Other then getting the message I am not actually seeing any problems with my connection. Though it dose seem to have a vary hard time changing towers without dropping my call. I can watch it go to 0 bars then drop my call then go right to 3+ bars and clime to full signal as I drive down the high way even in major city's. I'm a truck driver and have this problem every where I go. So I know its a local network problem.

I am a former AT&T customer and new Sprint customer and have had more dropped calls in the last 2 months with Sprint then I had in the last year with AT&T. Some days I have no dropped calls at all. I can talk on the phone for hours while driving and not drop 1 call. Others it drops my call every few min to the point where I just give up on it. (Note: I am using a bluetooth headset while driving and never hold the phone or text while driving.)

This is not the only problem I am having.
I am also having problems charging the phone. I can plug it in and walk away and when it is fully charged it will stop charging. So if I plug it in and its at say 80% when it hits 100% it will start running off the battery again even thou its plugged in to the charger. It dos not do this all the time but about 70% of the time.

This sucks as I will some times get up to less battery then I had when I went to bed!

Then next problem is the most annoying. I will turn the screen back on after not using the phone for a bit and the touch screen will not work. So I can not unlock the phone. Sliding the key board open will some times unlock the phone and give me touch screen function back. But most of the time I have to remove the battery in order to get the phone to work again.

After or during a call if I take the phone away from my head to say end the call or punch in a # as needed by the automated phone BS thing I may have had to call the screen will often not respond for 1-4 seconds after it turns back on. This can be a problem when trying to put #s in for an automated prompt system as some will time out before I can enter the # I need.
My only options around this are to put the phone on speaker (Don't like that as I am some times in a place where others can hear it) or us a head set, but I do not always have one with me.

My last problem has to do with updating any thing on the phone.
Example: If I go in and tell the phone to update the profile it will give me this error message,
"Your Profile could not be updated at this time. Please try again Later.
If this problem Persists, please contact customer care.
Error: Internal Error."
If I try to update the PRL or Firmware I get the same Error message.

The only thing that seams to change is from time to time the Error listed will change from "Internal Error" to "Unknown Error".

My problems seam to be getting larger and appearing more often the longer I have the phone. I was hopping that the 2.2 update would fix the problems but seeing as its never going to come out I am thinking of just selling the phone and going to a different carrier. I have called sprint tech support 5 times and they have done nothing for me so far.

The last call they said they where going to open a ticket for an advanced tech support person to call me back in 8-48 hours. That was 6 days ago and I have not gotten a call back yet.

Any one have any suggestions as to what I might be able to do? I really love this phone but am not willing to live with it's constant problems and things that just don't work "Bluetooth and Voice commands for example" any longer.

And I am not going to Root the phone ether. I have never done anything like that before and am not sure I can do it without bricking my phone.

Thanks for the help. Sorry for the long post/vent.

I called and complained to customer service again and they gave me a code and told me to go to a store and they will give me a new phone.

They have also told me this is now a "known problem" in regards to the failing to update any thing and the touch screen failing to work at times.

They had me to a hard reset as well and I lost all my contacts even though they where backed up to google. They phone will not DL them for some reason now.

Ill let you know how I make out as soon as I get the new phone.

Odds are it will be a new one with it barely out of the mandatory new phone replacement time frame. I am on my 3rd epic already. My first just froze up on my first night and my second one was acting very much like the problems discribed. The one i have now has been nothing but stellar. I do not regret for one second my decision to get this over the evo. And as far as sprint goes, imo they are way better att and vzw, had them both, in both network and customer service. Good luck! :)

Well sprint sent me a refurbished phone and it has most of the problems of the old one and a few new ones.

The screen on off button will some times not work or it will turn it off but it comes right back on or it will turn it on but it gos right back off.

And the touch buttons at the bottom of the screen often will not respond with out me pushing on them for more then 1.5 seconds. Hard! Or beating on them.

Gone is it failing to update the PRL / Profile crap.

Every thing ells is the same for the most part.

Oh and I lost all my contact info as the old phone would not sync to google for some reason.

And to top it all off I am 900 miles from my house visiting my dad for the holidays so I had them send the phone here rather then to my house where I would not get it for several weeks and they sent one to my house as well! And they say if I cant return it in the allotted time I will have to pay for it!

Sprint you get an big fat F at this point for having to much red tape to work threw just to get another broken phone!

Now I remember why I left Sprint 6 years ago!!!!!!!!!!

All i gotta say is wow. What bad luck. I am on my third epic but havent had the issues getting mine exchanged. My first one froze up the first night i had it and wouldnt come back. My second one started having issues that i talked both sprint and samsung and had a new one waiting for me when igot to the store. I know sprint can be difficult at times but better than vzw (bring it to the store happy) and att imo. I wish you te best of luck as i know you need it.

Ok so I finally got to my house (truck driver) and exchanged the 1st refurbished POS for the one they sent to my house. (Still a referb, kinda POed about that.)
I now have a working phone!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woot!

The only problem this phone has is the touch screen will not respond for 1-3 seconds after the screen comes back on if the prox sensor turned the screen off.
I had the same problem with the other 2 phones and sprint has told me it is a known problem that will be fixed in the next update.

Or in other words they may fix the problem at some point IF they ever get off there ass and send out an update for this phone.

My wifes intercept updated to 2.2.1 today. Big improvement over 2.1.1 on her phone.

I can tell ya that 2.2 when it comes out will make your phone way better all around if it is anything like the leaked version. I agree about them getting off their you know what and getting it out to the masses, thats why i decided to root and mod my phone after trying the leaked, sick of waiting. Wish you better luck with this one, i know number 3 has been good to me!
