Help New to the Android....unsure if I like it still. Please Help

Hi Everyone,

I just bought my Samsung Continuum two days ago after finding out the verizon was not going to get a new BlackBerry. I have been using the BlackBerry Storm2 and loved it but without an upgrade coming I switched. Now I am not so sure I made the right choice.

I used my blackberry calender, to do list and contacts with all synced with Outlook. For the droid I had to buy a program to do that which worked for the calender but doubled my contacts and I don't have the to do list.

Also the phone comes with so many icons on it I have a hard time finding what I want.

I really want to give this phone a chance but I am getting very frustrated.

Has anyone else out there switched from BB and do you have any ideas for me so I can get along with this phone and not go back.

Thank you

for what you need black berry may be the right choice for you. Android although robust, is not the right choice for many people. There is no way to transfer the todo list as far as im concened since theres no built in to do option in android. And as far as the calender is concerned ive always used google calender sync it is free and is pretty easy to set up.

finally under contacts hit the menu key I believe its a set of vertical lines then choose display options, there should be an option to choose which get displayed i believe theres an option to show only imported, or only those on phone.

Honestly, nothing handles integration with Exchange servers better than Blackberry and the Blackberry Enterprise Server.

Just a thought but have you tried to integrate your To-Do's between your Gmail account and your Exchange account? I did something similar using Gsync as the go-between on an iPhone and Outlook to make that work.

So what icons do you want? it has been a while since I used a blackberry (my last was the pearl), but if I remember correctly, the layout was essentially the same (icons and apps laid out above a background). I guess I am simply not understanding what you are confused about.

TBH you sound like a business professional that went with the "cool, new, hip item on the block" with Android.

While I love Android and am getting introduced to exciting new features daily, I am also realistic. In my opinion, BB just handles business activities better. Calendar. To-Do list. E-mail. Messenger. Appointments. Etc.

Not to say Android doesn't have some great alternatives, but BB is just the favorite in that niche.

My older brother said it best the other day. He had switched from a BB Tour to an HTC Incredible, he goes; "You know, while I love Android and am happy I switched to the Incredible, there's no denying that I just simply miss my BB sometimes."

Just goes to show that given time, you most likely will be happy with your new phone, but, at times, you'll miss that trusty ol' BB :)
