Ok. I was just rearranging some homescreens on my droid yesterday and downloaded some apps, such as pure messenger and mclock, and suddenly my battery life is shot...and I mean SHOT. I went from 100% off the charger to 15% in about....2.5-3 hours. What the hell has happened?

-thanks.

I also have huge battery issues. If I do any sort of internet stuff (surfing, facebook, games etc etc) my battery doesn't last longer than 2 hours.....which I could probably deal with except that it takes a good 6 or 7 hours to recharge again.

I always expected battery life to be fairly bad with such a big screen but this is beyond a joke.

If you are rooted have you thought about reseting your battery stats? I usually get about 12-15hrs out of my droid and when it seems like its dropping much sooner than normal I will reset my stats. Usually I see the change when I have been running waze and using my car charger a good bit.

I'm not sure how to reset the stats if you aren't rooted maybe using your computer and adb. If you are rooted I usually let my phone almost die or shut off then give it a full charge. I then use clockwork mod recovery, reboot into recovery then scroll down to advanced and click the camera button. You will see the reset battery stats option, click it and see if that helps.

Signal strength also plays a roll. The harder your Droid has to work to get a signal, the larger the toll that'll take on your battery.

This is what is probably using my battery so quickly. I have to travel through very patchy reception for about 35 minutes on the way to and from work.

I really wouldn't mind the battery life so much if the damn thing didn't take sooooooo long to recharge.

My previous phone was an iphone and from dead empty to full it would recharge in about 2 hours which was roughly the same length of time it took to use the entire battery.

My Samsung Galaxy S takes a good 6 or 7 hours to fully recharge. 2 hours use then 6 hours downtime is pretty crappy stats.

I don't think it's that because I was at home the entire time

I just recently had to battle with nasty battery life for almost 2 weeks. It took a lot of trial and error but I got some great advice from some of the advanced members, so I'll pay it forward.

3G Watchdog - a must have. It's a free app and it helped me identify that my battery life was going to constant downloading. Depending on what other changes/updates you made around the time of the battery loss, you may have downloaded an app that is constantly downloading. Check your plan and see what your usage looks like, or just get that App. It helped me a ton.

Once I found the source of the battery drain was constant data transmission I just had to start playing around with things that transmit data. I narrowed it down to my Exchange account. Further inspection revealed that it was only the calendar that was using a nearly constant data stream. I just disabled syncing the calendar and I my battery life immediately went back to normal.

I applied a ROM that's based on 2.2.1, so I don't know if the Exchange problem is inherent to that OS version or if it was just a quirk with the ROM I'm using. But I can live without my calendar.

Hope some of this helps. You may not have the same problems, but maybe some of this helps give you ideas of what to research.
