I found the BEST screen protector for the droid!

Im starting to think that my area is a test market for it. They have an entire ghost armor center where they do the install and it has become a peice of the store, almost like geek squad. Even so, you can by them on there website and there are some online coupons for discounts. It comes with an install kit with spray and a towel to help you install clean. I know the screen by itself is nice, i just dont want to get gunk on my glass screen, its just an extra layer of protection from my dirty hands.

Well, I need to buy my wife a case for hers because she keeps it in her purse and work bag so it gets tossed around a lot. I had the invisible shield or whatever that's called for my old Touch Diamond. It was terrible for sliding motions as my finger would always drag across the surface and "grab" in some places. The touch sensitivity was also much worse.

That's why I am reluctant to get anything. I just want something to protect the body.

I'm beginning to think maybe I will just get the Motorola Droid Clear hard case and or the Motorola Droid Shell / Holster combo case. I've tried the clear case and it worked nicely. It was not so bad removing it either. Although, I was hoping to eliminate that. The Shell / Holster combo is also supposed to be easy to remove. Maybe the easiest. The was prevent you from having to put something on the screen. I was previously thinking about just getting a screen cover and using a pouch, but every phone I have has had has at least a few really good drops. If you drop it enough you will scratch it up real good and lower the value of the phone if you want to sell it later.

One thing- the Zagg kit does not include anything to cover that outermost thin surface around the edge of the phone, the surface broken by the on/off and volume controls. That's going to be the edge that would hit first on a drop, and I'm thinking of trying to put some leftover Zagg substance on at least 2 of the corners to sticky it up a little and provide some small drop protection.

This is my biggest concern, after using Zagg for many of my other devices, I find the dragging-friction annoying.

I went with wrapsol, and this my first installation, and it works well, and provides a different material for the front screen, which is really a lot easier to scroll on, much like a typical screen protector, but I think it's more durable.

however. I have the same problem where the outermost edge isn't covered. This is the edge that I thought would have the most chance of being damaged. So I'm looking for another solution, or for Zagg or Wrapsol to make a skin that covers that edge.

Hey guys, I wanted your opinion on what would be the best screen protector to get for the droid?

My ZAGG went on and promptly off my device and sent back for a full refund. The body protection is laughable. It doesn't even protect the outermost edge of the device which is most vulnerable in a fall. The screen protector is the only worthwhile investment, but even then, just like someone noticed, serious drag and has a horrible "orange peel" texture (for those familiar with paint terms). Apparently, its the "nanotechnology" that allows the skin to resist scratching. Well, I didn't buy into that snake oil talk, got my $23 back and invested in el cheapo $2 screen protectors that 1) are glossy, 2) don't drag, 3) cost exactly what they're supposed to cost for these plastic films.

When I was looking for screen protectors, Boxwave or w/e was the only one I saw to receive unanimous praise. Rest of 'em seemed to have complains about making the screen less vibrant and/or less sensitive, something I can afford even less than 20$ screen protectors ). So I ordered one, not in yet so not verified.

Zagg for droid complete RIP off pun intended. Look at the return policy. You cannot return it if the install does not work right? Are you for real? The pieces actually never take correctly to begin with as far as adhesion.Instructions and break down of how the pieces line are up useless too.Try to get a refund and you suck wind!

ZAGG says that you have to let the skin "cure" for 12-24 hours with the device OFF! Thankfully, I told them I let it sit with it off for 10 hours overnight with it off. And they believed me. Otherwise, I would have gotten the run around. It's worthless. Save yourselves the money: Buy a snap on protector and a screen film and be done with it.

I use Verizon's gel snap on and a phantomskinz screen protector. I find phantomskinz to be perfect for the screen, but unlike Zagg, no sensitivity loss and annoying friction. The VWZ screen protector kept coming off despite my hyper-careful efforts to put it on right.

The gel snap-on case is the one one that will protect against a drop, and that's what I needed. A Hard snap-on case is pointless.

Just installed and it's on right now, it's amazing compared to Zagg...

No freaky liquid, there's no drag on the screen, your finger slides on it perfectly!

and it's SUPER clear like nothing is even on it!!

Enjoy everyone!!

I have to agree with you on the Zagg skin. I had an iTouch with a skin on it (been so long I don't know what brand it was) which was smooth but the Zagg does have a ton of drag! Might be bulletproof, but it really detracts from the experience. I can compare the touch and my droid side by side and it truly is a world of difference. Those who are pro-Zagg either have never experienced a smooth skin or believe they need a skin that stops a bullet. For those on the fence, if you only want a little protection and not armor, avoid the Zagg skin!

PhantomSkinz

It has more coverage than the Zagg does. I didn't apply the screen bezel pieces, only screen, all back pieces, and the corner pieces. I really like it. There isn't that much drag, and one thing I noticed improved was if my fingers were not completely dry for whatever reason, on the bare screen it would be tough to slide, but with this skin it's a lot easier in whatever condition.
I did have a couple finger prints that I thought were going to stay, but slowly faded into nonexistence. I'm very pleased with this skin, especially with the battery plate. I found it hard to remove unless I used a fingernail at the top. Now I can actually use friction to slide it off. You might notice a tiny vertical "grain" to the screen protector, but it's not very noticeable unless you try looking for it. I will accept that for the protection it offers.
Takes about 30mins to apply, and I let it dry for 2 hours. Had it on for 3 weeks now.

Hello all, noob here, my question is whether there is a noticable difference in reaction from the touch screen with a protector on. i'm all for getting a screen protector to avoid scratching, my last phone got way messed up as i usually just shove my phone in my pocket, heh. i tried searching a bit and didn't really see this covered/answered. thanks for any info ^__^

Re: the video of the guy scraping a key across the glass screen of his Droid with no seeming effect, the glass of the screen is harder than the steel of the key but not quartz, which can be found in some sand. Hardened steel and certainly a diamond can scratch it too. See Mohs Scale of Hardness.

If you can be sure a bit of sand or quartz grit never gets into your pocket or case then there's no need for a screen protector. But that first scratch is a real pisser.

I'd recommend Ghost Armor. It's smoother than Zagg and not as sticky when you slide your finger. I can also attest to the self-healing nature of it. I was showing off my phone to my brother and picked up a wood screw off his work bench and proceeded to scrape up my screen. I then wiped it off with my thumb and while saying "see, no scratches" saw the scratches clearly and could even feel them a little. I was thinking I was the biggest fool that ever walked. Anyway, went on with the other festivities, got up the next day to order a warranty replacement of the GA, and no scratch. Not even a trace. I even showed my brother who had been laughing his ass off at me for scratching my phone and he couldn't find a trace of a scratch either. Amazing stuff.

Keys are made of brass. If they were steel they would wear out the lock they went to in less than a year, cause the pins of a lock are also brass.

I did a lot of research for a screen protector and ended up with the decision to buy a "static" screen protector. Heard too many negatives on zagg (and other scratch resistant screen protectors) and lots of good things about boxwave.

Went out and bought the Clarivue
Motorola Droid Screen Protector from Clarivue
and used 105191281 to get 10% off.
You get 2 screen protectors, the same quality as boxwave, and lifetime warranty. Can't beat that. Paid $9.89 with free shipping, no tax, to Cali.

Berry review had a nice review on Clarivue.

Will post a review with pics once I get it and install.

Another vote for PhantomSkinz. My first droid had the phantomskinz and I loved it. I hadnt had time to get a replacement for my new droid, so while I had time to kill at the airport yesterday I let one of the booth guys install a Zagg for me.

Like everyone else already said, orange peel texture, reduced vision compared to phantomskinz. EVEN WORSE, it shows every molecule of oil and fingerprints! With my old one a quick swipe of my finger would remove oild and residue... with the zagg, all I seem to be doing is pushing it around the screen :(

I'll keep it on the body due to laziness, but I'm definitely picking up another phantomskinz protector for the screen!
