1. Do I need to get the 30$ hotspot if I tethering with USB and/or Bluetooth?

2. If I am tethering to get internet connection for my Desktop PC, can I still receive/send calls?

3. Is there a data limit depending on 3G/4G reception? Meaning, if Im not getting 4G in my area, am I limited to 5GB w/ 3g if I want to tether & use phones internet?

4. Do i need to root the EVO so i dont have to pay the 30$ hotspot to tether?

1. You can use something like a pdanet for usb tethering - one time cost of $16.

2. Yes, but on 3g you can only do calls or data. Your data will stop of a call comes in and resume once your call ends.

3. There is no data limit on 3g or 4g.

4. You will need to root or pay the money for wireless hotspot tethering.

I'd try pdanet for free (once trial version expires you will need to pay to access https websites, to see if it meets your needs. It's cheaper than the hotspot and you don't have to root.
