Root [ROM ]--CHARITY--Smoked Glass Themed Version 11 !! Froyo 2.2.1 FRG83D

I was running another ROM, and had SetCPU running at 900Mhz. Loaded this ROM, and all was good I was playing with SetCPU and moved it to 1100Mhz.. phone froze and I had to pull the battery. Now it boots, and before I can get into SetCPU to lower the number it is freezing again. Is there a way to force SetCPU to a lower speed a different way?

Thanks

I think the only easiest way to fix it is to boot into recovery load the rom again with a wipe. I have tried to get on and change setcpu before it loads but it is hard. I have learned when I am messing around with setcpu I uncheck the set on startup box until I know the overclocking works on my phone.

Thanks.. if I uncheck boot on startup what happens.. it just boots at normal 550Mhz speed. then allows you to change the setting in SetCPU.

I got it changed, got lucky on one of the boots.. and reset the speed. A little trick I tried, was to cool the phone down then try it. I found the cooler I got the phone the longer it was before it froze. I ended up putting the phone in the fridge for a few min.

Thanks again for your help.

So far, I really like the Charity ROM. The only thing I miss that is in some of the other ROMs is the ability to turn WiFi on/off from the notification bar. That was quite a convenient feature because I didn't have to go back to my home screen every time I wanted to turn on WiFi since I could pull down the notification bar while most programs were in the foreground.

That would be a nice add-on; still, great ROM!

The phone will not overclock until you set it.

I am new to this, so I am moving around trying different ones. I first ran a stock rom with Chevy's 1100 Med voltage kernel, that worked very well. Then I played with Simply Stunning, and at first I liked it, but I found the colors to be a little dark, and the battery life suffered, also I was having lots of trouble with the launcher, it was unresponsive at times, when you tried to move it, it would not move but would select a program, very annoying.

Then tried the Charity ROM, for about 30 min, now running LFY 1.9 So far I like it better, but I will likely move around a little. THe LFY seems ROCKET fast even at 900Mhz.
The nice thing is both Charity and LFY did not require a wipe so its easy to switch back and forth.

Thanks again.

Good luck and remember to always back up. Are you using rom manager? It makes switching rom's, kerenls, themes and everything else easy.

I switched to one of Slayhers kernels just to see, and it appears to have fixed the wifi problem. I prefer Chevy's but I guess this is a good chance for me to try Slayher, as he seems to be getting a lot of rep. No word on if any of Chevy's other kernel work

I didn't know you guys were still having wifi issues. If you are, while trying to connect to wifi network put your phone in airplane mode, turn off airplane mode, then try and connect, should work...

Download the app Quick Setting. It gives you a list ofcommands, like wifi, gps, bluetooth, etc that you can access from a menu in the notification bar.

I had the same problem. I had to let the phone cool down too to lower the speed below 1100. Except I also had "set at boot" so it ended up boot looping and I had to factory wipe and reinstall to fix it.
