I hear ya. I still have OCLF and Z4Root on my Captivate, but I guess they won't work under 2.2.
z4root is supposed to work on 2.2.

I did... I just got an abort message
i got a apk for z4root on my computer, so whenever i flash to stock i use z4root to root my phone....
The 1st time I rooted my Stock was with z4root and it did great and I saved the apk on my Computer. But after some z4root update I had problems with phone hanging on reboot so I went to the 1click root method. Have you any problems with the z4root app? I might give it a try again since I have it saved.
The first time I ever used z4root it took 2 tries. The first pass it hung before reboot but I simply did a battery pull and tried again and it worked. Might have been since I had rooted first with OCLF, then unrooted to try out z4root.
Since then it's worked first pass every time.

how can i update android 2.2 to 2.3
2.2 has been out for a long time.I know this forum is for those who have ROOTED or requesting assistance to ROOT. This more of a basic question because I have a Cappy thru work and I do not dare ROOT/FLASH my phone....
Long story short: has AT&T pushed 2.2 out yet? I sure haven't seen it and I've been doing a check every 24 hours. I was just wondering if my phone is jacked, because I haven't gotten the newest Market, either! (I sure would like to watch my NETFLIX like my Verizon friends do.....)

Right, I understand that - but when I go and "force" my phone to look for updates, AT&T says there are none.
I just restored back to factory settings hoping to be able to get an updated load from AT&T and of course, nothing.
Pro tip: Kies only works with 32-bit Windows.
I've got a question for those already in 2.3.4 (KH3). Is there a lot of difference between that and stock att froyo? (has KH3 been stable?) I've been in 2.2 and never thought about changing it but now I'm seeing my phone start to hang a little bit. Its becoming slow when opening some apps or the browser.
I have been reading in the XDA forums and seem to have an idea how to upgrade to KH3. Can I see a speed and battery improvement with the upgrade to GB? Or should I just wait for ATT or a leaked 2.3.5?
Thanks !
PS: FYI, tell me if this looks good:
-Do a OneclickOdin for bootloaders from Cezar first
-Do a OneclickOdin for Stock I897UCKH3 with boog_kh3_kernel3, NO Bootloaders
Any recommendation would be appreciated. Thanks to all!
leaked 2.3.5 is already out. and you shouldnt need to do 2 flashes, just a odin with the firmware and bootloaders
Thanks, I will probably do flashing as you said. I just thought that if I did it the other way it would be easier to flash victory rom that requires that kernel. But ill prob just stay in KH3 stock.
Did you upgrade? Do you see a difference in performance / battery? I have seen 2.3.5 but these are not for captivate specifically, correct? these are for i9000? I want to upgrade to something for the captivate.
Thanks again for your help
