I can hardly contain my excitement..

Thunderbolt Might Blow Your Pants Off [GOS] | Android Phone Fans

I'm really hoping that these specs are factual. I've reached out to @black_man_x to see if he can offer any confirmation. I'll post back if I hear anything..

:D

That was the same post quoted in the article earlier on this page with an edit saying that the 1.2DC processor quoted in that spec sheet isn't even being made available for manufacturers in test samples until sometime next year.

well ill be john brown. VZW data package for blackberry/smartphone is truly unlimited. i guess all the stuff i was listening to was related to "data cards". pretty sweet! so who the hell would want a card capped at 5gb?

I think the data card cap was imposed way back and they never restructured their price plans. Back when 5gb was actually a lot; the cards have never really been intended for much more then business people being mobile anyways. But even now, people do video conferences from their laptops, the 5gb cap really needs to be reevaluated.

Well there goes my idea.

Phonedog has an article about a leaked dummy unit for the Thunderbolt and the differences between it and the photos leaked by Droidlife. They note that the new unit has an 8MP logo near the camera, the 4G LTE logo is gone, & on the kickstand it now says "With HTC Sense" instead of "With Google". What I notice is the two pinholes near the dual LED flash are also gone.

That last one blows my idea of two speakers, a speakerphone near the flash, and a media speaker under the kickstand, out of the water.

One of the other changes worries me though. Replacing "With Google" with "With HTC Sense" opens the possibility that a browser other than Google (Bing) could be the default browser for the phone. If that's the case that will irritate me, especially if they try to lock it down like with Galaxy S line. The only thing that gives me hope that is not the case is that Verizon said they would not put Bing on their Droid branded handsets.

The other issue isn't a big deal, but I liked the "4G LTE" logo on the phone. It let you know this wasn't just some old 3G smartphone. That's just my 2 cents.

Here is the article below
HTC Thunderbolt dummy unit sports a slightly revised backside

Edit: Nevermind, I went to the source of the photo (HTCPedia), and one of the commenters noted that the photo is the same one that we saw around August. I guess I forgot about those after seeing the Droidlife photos. All is well with the universe again.

Why are you guys so convinced that it's a Droid branded phone?

Because it is supposed to be the first LTE phone. I doubt Verizon would lead with a midrange handset, and Droids tend to be on the top tier of the smartphones. Plus so far every one of HTC's smartphones released on Verizon with Android have been Droids (Eris, Incredible). The only one we know of that isn't is the Merge, a midrange handset that's still not out yet.

For that matter the only top tier Android smartphone without the Droid branding is the Fascinate. I can only speculate that Samsung wanted their phone to be set apart from the other top tier phones.

Besides, look how long it took after the D1 & Eris showed up that we saw a non Droid Android smartphone (LG Ally). I would seriously doubt that Verizon's first LTE smartphone would forgo the Droid branding that is in everyone's mindset. That's be like apple releasing their phone on Verizon and calling it something other than iphone. It would abandon the whole marketing juggernaut that is the iphone. Just my thoughts but I think it'll prove to be true.

I really want this phone to be competitive with iPhone 4. Had some company over last night for New Year's, and one of the iPhone people there was fairly *geeky*, so we compared devices for well over an hour. Granted, we were comparing my almost 1-year old piece of technology to brand-new technology, but like Apple or not, iPhone 4 has camera, camcorder, and display specs and performance that shames anything else that is out right now. And of course, he rubbed it in by streaming Netflix in HD, which really was stunning. I really want the Thunderbolt to best the iPhone 4 so I can go back to this guy and kick some tail. As it is now, I got my tail kicked by a fanboy!
