Is there a way to increase the volume to a wired headset.

I have a wired headset with a boom mic. It is a cheap one, but works well. Only trouble is that the volume is too quiet. Wondering if there is a way to up the volume output? An aftermarket app. Or a hack if I have too.

Does the phone volume button have any effect? I plug the head unit of my vehicle into my headset jack and can control the volume to an extent with the standard phone volume controls, but it would also be too quiet if I couldn't also turn the radio up.

Even with the phone and headset volume all the way up it is too quiet. If I am in a quiet location it is OK. But with all the background noise in my semi truck it is difficult to hear. I just thougt there might be an app or a hack that could boost the audio output from the phone.

I'm actually after the same thing. I travel allot and I like watching movies on my Android using wired headphones but with the steady and loud noise from the airplane's engines, I can't hear the audio. I've got the Media Volume setting all the way up and there is no volume setting for the headphones. When you compare the max volume on the Droid to that of an inexpensive MP3 player it's like night and day and I really wish the Droid had the same volume output.

I'm going to try a portable audio amplifier because really I have the same problem with my laptop on planes. I'm going to order this and I'll let you know how it works.

Dragging up an old thread here, but if you're having trouble hearing music/video in plane-type environments, I'd suggest looking at noise-blocking (not noise-canceling) headsets.

I use an etycom er22c with other phones, the flanged ear tip works wonders for letting me hear the other party, even in loud environments. For planes, I used er-6i's, but just about any good-tipped in-ear headphone will work wonders. I personally like flanged tips, but even the mushroom-style shure tips will work.

You want to block out sound. When you're listening to dialog on a plane with normal headphones, you have to max the volume and concentrate. When you use noise-blocking headphones, all the plane noise is gone. It's like watching tv at home, or in a quiet room. I've had stewardesses tap me on the shoulder to see if I need a drink - I couldn't hear them asking me from 1-2 ft away.

2 things...

1.. I have myn ROM... it has an app that helps raise sound and has and EQ... get the ROM or find that app "DSPManager".

2. you said you have a "cheap" headset. I highly suggest you get a "not cheap" headset. spend $40-$75". Quailty headset will improve the sound and experience.

maybe even do both!

Price isn't always the best indicator. If a given headset has more resistance than another than the one with more resistance will always have a lower volume level, regardless of price.

yes... sure... but...

9 out of 10... higher price headset .. will be better and louder than cheaper ones.

Either there's a problem with the headset.... or there's a problem with your ears....

No offense intended. My mother has the same problem. She can only hear the other person the phone when the volume is set to max. At that volume my ear drums will get blasted out.

Hi everyone ^^ My first post over here but I thought I would start by contributing a bit. I found this thread while looking for a solution for the same problem.

I found the perfect app for exactly what we needed. No unlock or ROM required. It's called:

Volume Boost

duh?

It's on the Market and you have to pay for it but it works like a charm. It even comes with a widget to turn it on and off
