OTA Froyo update

Android Central is reporting scheduled updates for the Fascinate and Continuum on the 10th and the 18th respectively. So, keep an eye on the Fascinate on the 10th to see what's likely coming our way on the 18th. Here's hoping it's some Froyo.

if i had to guess id say its a 2.1 update...for the fascinate dl09 (mainly a reworked dj05 update that fixes gps) and something similar for the continuum.

2.2 hasnt even gone into official testing by all accounts so its highly unlikely that they would have been able to get 2.2 out without it being leaked (all other fascinate updates have been leaked)

Would LOVE it to be 2.2, but I'm not holding my breath.

Also, why does everyone claim the GPS is broke? On my Contiuum I've used it a dozen times with absolutely no problems. Very accurate, easy and takes me from point A to point B seemlessly. What's up with the beef?

the gps on the galaxy s is a noted problem...doesnt mean that some havent been fortunate and had working gps out of the box...but for the vast majority...no

mine out of the box on my fascinate was atrocious....the leaked dj05 update we got fixed it completely

was there a real reason for a lot of the stuff samsung has done that seems inexplicable?

I'm not sure if you can/would answer any of this...but

1. why split the framework-res.apk into framework and twframework? kind of a nightmare theme wise

2. why use such ancient (android 1.6 if i recall) ril in the galaxy s phones?

3. and the obvious why so long for froyo? i mean i realize samsung has so many versions of the galaxy s line to maintain, but they launched many of the versions of sgs after many phones were launching (g2, d2) with 2.2 or getting it ota (dx, og droid, evo, inc). it seems that touchwiz as a launcher/skin is just a nightmare to work with

many of us speculate that samsung android division are just *making* up things to do to justify their jobs...but i mean a lot of this is kinda ridiculous :eek:
