Root Help with Quantum

Okay so here is my current situation.
When the DK28 version came out I flashed the update.zip file. About an hour ago I rooted using this method: One Click Root & Recovery for the Epic 4G! v2.5.5 Now has ClockworkMod Redirector! - xda-developers
I have a bad GPS and the phone just isn't running quite as smooth as it was with 2.1 (this doesn't have anything to do with rooting, it was lagging before that).
I would like to update the GPS so that it works and install the Quantum Rom as it seems to be the smoothest running version of 2.2 with regards to everything Ive been reading.
I've been reading posts all over the place and there isn't much in the form of congruency regarding exactly how I should go about this.
Basically I would like some instructions on what I need to do regarding Odin, what needs to be installed, flashed, backed up, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm obviously a noob regarding all of this.
Thanks in advance,
Luke

Are you running the DK28 modem as well?

To be honest, I think Bonsai4all 1.1.1 is the most stable ROM I have used to date. My suggestion would be this:

Follow the directions to return your phone to stock.
Root the phone using your previous method.
Then follow these directions to update your modem and pit file to DK28. Download here.

- open odin exe file. on the left side of the program make sure that only autoreboot is checked, nothing else.
- load the included .pit file in the "PIT" section.
- load the included modem.bin file into the "PDA" section.
- connect phone via USB, make sure the first box turns yellow.
- click start and let it go through till your phone restarts.

Next step is to pick out and download your ROM. My suggestion would be Bonsai4all if you are looking for stability. But if you prefer Viper, it is also a great ROM that I have used a couple times before.

After you have downloaded your ROM, you need to move it onto your SDcard via the USB. Once that is done, go into clockwork.(turn phone completely off, then hold down the volume down button, hold down the camera button, then hold down the power button). You will see green text.

I always clear the data and cache three times before I install a rom just in case. After that, choose "install zip from sdcard", than you search for the bonsai or viper zip and install. Make sure you install it on a mostly full battery. It will finish installing then you will back keep going back till you see the reboot option. Reboot, give it about 5 minutes to start up and you are set.
