my external charger came from Sinapore today and the battery is on the charge now.. wow how bright the charge light is.

As if it helps we will see.. I still think these are just fake 3500 Mah batteries so far.

Mine are still going strong. I can get two full days of average use now that I'm rooted and running a custom kernel and rom. The stock battery now gets me through the day no problem, I should have rooted the day I got the Evo.

But for days when I use my phone for work, which means calls plus internet, navigation and camera for several hours total, I definitely need the extended battery, and often end up charging for an hour or so by evening to prevent the battery from dropping too low. I'm pretty sure they don't hold as much charge as when they were new. But I already feel I've gotten my money's worth.

There is a seller on ebay that has the Sprint version extended battery door, in black or white for $10 shipped. Mine arrived, great fit with the Chinese "3500mah" batteries, and a better design. Now I can dock my phone with the extended battery still installed. And the phone feels less bulky.

That kernel is the one i'm talking about. Are you rooted?

That kernel is the schizzle. Previously, I would get slightly better battery life (with the Chinese battery) by just plugging my phone in to the HTC charger and a bit better if I plugged/unplugged for 30-45 minutes while getting ready.

With this kernel, plug it in at night and get wicked battery life all day(s) long. On the stock battery, my typical use, which I'd classify as a bit more than normal, would net me about 10 hours on the stock battery and 16 or so on the Chinese battery. This kernel + the Chinese battery net me over 21 hours each of the past few days with the same usage. I even had a 2+ day stint this weekend, though it is hard to compare as I was on WiFi much more and used the phone a bit less.

I still have an external charger on the way, though. Ordered a battery for a friend and got the 2 pack with the external charger. He gets 1 battery and the cover while I get the other battery and the external charger at a cost of $10 to each of us.

Anyone knows if there is a (cheap / easy) way to measure a battery true mAh readings?

So that if I buy a battery rated at 3500 mAh that I am getting a battery close to say 3500 mAh and not a battery giving me ~1500 mAh?

I used a Battery charger / cycler from my RC Helicopter Hobby. THey cost about U$100.
The results:

First mah number is battery charged in phone via HTC EVO AC charger. Second mah is battery charged by Cheap Chinese External Charger that came with the Galilio battery.

HTC Red 1500 / U$18 - 1312mah / 1458mah
Seidio 1700 / U$44 - 1318mah / 1448mah
Galilio 1800 / U$8 - 1337mah / 1586mah
China 3500 / U$10 - 2284mah / 2469mah
China 3000 / U$10 - 2224mah / 2478mah

Seems the Ebay 2600/3000/3500 batteries are all generic 2600's.
