Root Best Kernel For Battery Life On Stock Rom

Hi all! Been lurking around for a while and this is my first post. This is an awesome community

I have jailbroken/modded all manner of devices, but this is the first time i have rooted a phone. I just barely bought an Android Incredible. (amazing phone)

My question is though, What is the best kernel to save battery life that i can use without flashing a custom ROM? I really like the UI on the stock. I have been looking around the forums but i cant find a solid answer for the stock.

I did however read something about an invisiblek kernel that underclocks when the screen is off. That is something i would really like to try, but i read that it only works on aosp custom roms. Is there a decent alternative?

You could try virtuous's stock or custom kernel....the latter having better battery savings. click here

Some say wiping Dalvik isn't needed, but I always do when trying a new kernel. If you do wipe Dalvik 1st boot will take a while. To wipe Dalvik boot into recovery> advanced> wipe dalvik cache

I would try custom kernel as jbdan mentioned.
However do not rule out flashing a custom ROM because of the UI. There are several ROMs that keep stock ui.

This can be done using setcpu app. I highly recommend this app, You can set profiles for processor speeds on certain events like screen off or battery low.

I'm running Lou's Senseless Revolution 1.0 with his #4 Kernel and was able to get 30+ hours of battery life with 20% left

I would try SkyRaider Sense. It is a very good ROM using Sense.

Then check if they have a forum to see what kernels people recommend.

I loved sense, but I use Cyanogen with launcher pro plus and invisilek #21

I'd reccomment stock using setCPU with profiles, or hydra under volted.

when I was using the stock rom I liked Hydra OC. Im running SR3.5 now, check it out

Same here, I haven't gotten around to using hydra on SR3.5 cos stock is working so great, i may give it a go here though to compare.

hey guys! thanks so much for the help. so i decided to go with lous redemption with the # 4 kernel. i really like the ROM, but i ran into a problem with the kernel. Forgive me if i should be posting this in a separate thread.

When i flash the #4 kernel, it puts me into a nasty bootloop. So i tried it again, no dice. then i restored to my pre-lou rom, and tried kernel #6/ still in a bootloop.

any suggestions?
