Help Texts go to wrong person?

Guys, I know we do not require you to search before you start a new thread, but at least read the "Here are similar threads we found" box that pops up after you type your title and click in the message box before starting a new one!

I only suspected there might be a second one so I clicked the "new thread" button and typed Texts go to wrong person and surprise, surprise, there were three! Three active threads on the same topic, just in the Incredible section.

Not busting anyone specific, but the next time you ask yourself "Hey why did my thread get merged?"...

Thanks guys!!

This has happened to me 3 times over the last 3months (that I am aware of)

I don't use any other texting apps only stock - I can't believe this is happening #veryscary

I have an EVO Has any other Evo users had this problem?
Anyone with an android phone can have the problem, it's not phone specific, follow the link in the post above yours...

I'm with vodaphone .. And the same shit happend to me . I replied to a friends text message , only to find instead of my friend receiving the text 10 other people I have no idea who, received it instead , the phone company kept saying I must have sent it wrong but I know I didn't . How did my phone just generate 10 new numbers out of the blue . ? This is a major invasion of privacy.

Has there been a successful fix to this? Texts to my daughter go to my husband, even if I actually type her phone number in the "To:" section. It doesn't matter which text messaging app I use (usually use Handcent/Next SMS, but using native Messaging app currently). I am on Fulmics 5.0 ROM on my LG G3, and this problem began sometime after I texted my daughter (and it went to her) Friday, April 29, 2016. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

This started happening to me, just today. I shared a photo in my gallery, selected two recipients, verified that I chose wisely, sent the message and it went to someone entirely different! I closed the app (using the stock messaging app), tried again and my phone sent it to the same (wrong) person again. So, I started inside the messaging app and sent the image to just one person at a time, and that worked. Then, I started a brand new message to 'Erin', and just 'Erin', sent the message and couldn't find it in my message list because it's showing up under a totally different conversation thread with 2 other people and no mention of 'Erin', though she responded accordingly. What is going on?!?!?!?!?

I don't know why this happens, but I fixed mine by deleting the message threads that included messages that went to the wrong people. I deleted the entire thread, not just the individual messages (though I don't remember if I tried that). After I deleted the threads, any text I sent went to the correct person.

Thanks for your reply, Perry0325. I was able to stop the erratic behavior by doing exactly as you described. Deleted all the threads that 'kidnapped' the new conversations, and deleted all associated threads. I also made various changes to the MMS settings, though I don't believe that had any impact. That was driving me CRAZY.

just started having same problem where i sent text to contact A and somehow it goes to contact B.. it especially happens when i try sending a group text or text with pic attached. i have tried sending group texts to different people and each time my Galaxy 6 includes my son's number which he isnt suppose to be included in any text messages, i tried deleting all messages completely from phone also going into setting and clearing data but nothing helps. I also tried deleting my sons contact from my phone but the other people still receive the text message as if it was coming from my sons phone. my sons phone is an iphone 6..does anyone have a solution to this problem???

Kermit7967 - please read my reply above; you may have to do the same thing, i.e., delete all involved txt threads. That resolved the problem for me. Good luck!

thanks for replying...yes i tried deleting all texts and problem doesn't go away. somehow everytime i attach a pic to a text message to anyone in my contacts the text message instead shows up with my sons phone number instead of my number. if i send a group message as well even without any attachment it goes to everyone in that group but my sons number shows up instead of my phone so when they reply i dont get the reply instead my son receives it. i made sure my sons number was not linked to my number in any way.. i also tried deleting my sons number from my contact list and yet people still receive my messages as if they were sent from my sons phone.

I have now had this happen twice in the past week. A friend sent me a text, I replied to it, and it went to someone else! I didn't even type the contact name, as I was simply replying!!! I have had phone issues (broken screen) this summer where I had to have my phone repaired. I am wondering if during the transfer process, where it is backing up messages, there was some type of glitch. Did any of you others who have had this issue also have to back up and restore messages from another phone, by chance?
