Must Have Android Apps

Orb streams pc vids to your phone in HD, if you use 4G, automatically.

If on 3G, it streams in SD.

Soon, hopefully, it will stream in a codec that the hdmi out can handle so we can stream our pc vids anywhere.

They have portable hdmi in projectors too. :)

Thanks a lot tjennhw. Do I have to upload stuff, or will it search my PC for Media?

It has settings for prettymuch everything you can think of. My main reason though is the sound quality. The eq/preamp is just fantastic. Plus I like plugging it in and having it just turn on right away :)

To each his own, I guess.

I have a ROM with an equalizer that adjusts the mini output, phone speaker, and bluetooth devices independently, and the settings work for ALL audio on the phone, rather than being limited to a media player. I guess I'm not sure what other settings I'm missing (I've tried numerous media players, too). Glad it is working for you, though.

-download server app at orb.com
-choose directories of media
-settings>flash
-refresh media sources
-logon with your phone's internet browser

No uploading needed.

I found that auto test speed works only if you're not moving (driving). If you're driving, use 320k speed so your video won't stop if you lose your 4G connection.

You can refresh your media directories on the road if you have some sort of remote to your computer, like logmein.

You can turn the volume of the app up in the preamp. IMO it's the loudest music app and I've tried quite a few. :)

The preamp does a mediocre job compared to Double Twist. I tried all settings in the preamp and none come close to the loudness and clarity of Double Twist. The setting that comes the closest is "Phone Speaker Loud". Even then, I get good volume, but the sound quality is compormised.

A few new apps i am enjoying.

Evernote i like this because you can edit the notes from an app on the pc and it syncs back to your phone, there is a plugin for firefox so you can save a whole web page, which can be edited on the pc.

Zillow Real estate app.

The Coupon app seems to be the best from the others in this category.

Mighty Grocery shopping

Scanner radio

World Newspapers Awesome app for reading articles on varies news sites and magazines, deleted half of my bookmarks since i can read using this app and save the articles for offline reading.

Well I am the developer so, I am going to tell you it is great. :)

Let me just tell you the pro's of Silence When Docked over Tasker:
- NO service process running all the time --> No performance or battery impact.
- Very small app only 17K, specific, non intrusive and not expensive.
- Can be used with any desk dock or no dock at all.

New Features in Silence When Docked v1.31!
- Allowed Numbers list so you never miss and important call or SMS.

Not sure if "Square" has been mentioned. I can't really comment on the functionality of it, but I just noticed it in the market and it seems like it will be rather helpful.

It is a free credit card scanner for your phone. If you download and activate the app, they send you the phone attachment for free. They take a percentage of each payment that you take through their service, but it adds a bit more security over taking checks (if you don't have your own check authorization company). This will be extremely beneficial for my side job doing home theater installs.

Beware, I have heard they run a credit check on you, make sure you aren't applying for anything else credit wise at the time, one could mess with the other. Also the fees are a tad on the high side.

I'm open to any suggestions for a convenient way to take credit card payments that does not have a monthly or annual fee. You pay a bit for convenience, but with the relatively small amount I will be doing, this sounds great.

If you let them use your phone to access their account you can.:D

Let's try this again:

I am looking for a music player I like. I want to play flac files, have tried most, but am not happy. Hopefully vlc will come through soon.

Am also very happy with "KingReader." It can use txt files, very nice for my digital book collection.
