What would it take for you to give up your N1?

For starters I love my Nexus One - it's the first (and only) smartphone I have ever owned as I never jumped on the iphone bandwagon. After playing around with other people's Android phones it makes me that much happier to have my N1 to go home to. That being said, I love new shiny pretty things (as do all us phone junkies) and was wondering what it would take fellow N1 lovers to take the plunge on another phone.

I saw the HTC Inspire release info and it looks like a gorgeous little phone but not too different than my N1 (except for 4G). Also like the dual core processor & 4G in the Motorola Atrix that was recently announced as well.

So for me to upgrade would require the following improvements from my N1:

~dual core processor.
~HTC phone (just like the way they look and HTC sense)
~4G (even though we have no 4G network on ATT yet)
~better camera in general as well as a front facing camera for eventual video conferencing.

Thoughts? Are Motorola phones (Atrix to be specific) any good and worth giving up the N1 for?

A Nexus Two. Alternatively, Panasonic has started dabbling with Android, and I have the far-fetched hope that they might revive their Toughbook phone line with Android - I love rugged gear.

I don't like Motorola, not only do you hardly get any official upgrades, they also lock down their precious firmwares as hard as they can to make inofficial upgrades difficult. Plus the clumsy way they are handling their mass-failing Defy issue here in Europe does not inspire confidence.

Nothing out there worth making a switch for @ the moment. But in a very rough non tech feature set... 5-10% screen bigger but same form factor and feel in my hands (bigger than that just gets to clunky in my pocket), faster, longer battery (not gonna happen), better radio, better multi-touch screen, better cam.

I'll probably lose or break my phone before I actually want to trade up.... aaaaargh.

That said. This phone is still pure joy to own.

Something with the sexy design aluminum/soft matte rubber of the N1
I haven't seen a phone that is designed to feel so nice. The Desire and Legend both have the same design as the N1 but the look is off and not as appealing.
I want my new phone to look exactly like my N1, 4", pure vanilla, SAMOLED, trim the waistline a bit, forward facing camera, dual core processors, lots of internal memory, better GPU and digitalizer and all the other goodies that i'm too lazy to write up

I don't see anything out there yet...

I called T-Mobile to exchange my brothers (POS) Cliq...asked out of curiosity what they can offer me for higher end phones considering I just "upgraded" my brother to the Cliq eight months ago.

To my and the customer service representatives surprise, we qualified to get a G2 for 80 bucks and got a MyTouch 4G for free as a BOGO offer...I still don't think I'm going to switch to either of those two...

The Nexus One, to me, is perfect save for the crappy non-multi-touch screen.

EDIT: What I would like on the other hand:

Better/multi-touch screen
Better battery
Dual Core

And leave it in the same form factor so all my accessories fit. :D

Ok want to start off by saying that i love my nexus, i really do. This is the first phone that ive owned that i didnt want to upgrade from, even with newer phones coming out every month. But i think ill be switching soon to another phone, not because theirs anything wrong with my nexus. I bought my girlfriend a mytouch 4g and shes really itching to use the video chat function along with some other friends, plus im starting to worry that i may damage what i consider to be a collectors item. My options as i see them now will be to get another mytouch4g which ive said before would have been a better choice for the next nexus then crapamsung. Or possibly the sony ericsson arc, which to me has a very attractive design.

As far as what specs im looking at:
A front facing camera for video chat
More ram for app storage(this was a pain on the nexus)
A better camera 8 Mp, 720p video record
Some on board memory at least 4gb and a sd card slot 32gb support
Dual core processor would be nice
Hdmi plug with hdmi mirroring.

Of all the new phones announced at CES the sony ericsson arc has my attention. It might not be a dual core but it was humming along just nice, i know some people will say that sony ericsson is going down the same road as samsung with updates but i will say this most of us that are power users already have our phones rooted running moded roms. Plus it was the only phone announced that is running gingerbread 2.3. The thing that im noticing especially after the CES announcments is that no one is releasing any phones that run stock.

Edit: The xperia arc doesnt seem to have a front facing camera so guess its the mytouch 4g until something better comes out

That's a first. The phones that are coming out now or will be are thinner than the Nexus One. How is it awkward to hold?

it's hard to explain, but to me, it just is hard to hold. i use to have a casemate gel case and that made it the perfect depth, but i didnt like how it covered up much of the phone. it's been about a week since ive been using the phone without a case after about 9 months of using the case. like i guess the only way to explain is when holding the phone to your ear, that's when i feel awkward, like it's too thin and doesnt rest against my palm when holding to my ear. maybe i'm just use to older model phones which had more depth. but after 9 months, i finally decided i'm not as afraid of dropping anymore and i want to use it as it should be used and show the design, b/c i really like the design of the phone
