Motorola Droid Bionic - Replacing Droid X?!?!

Where are you seeing that? I don't see it? To quote the description "Record and edit HD videos and then share them at 1080p"

Then if you look at the specs below it says

VIDEO RECORDING RESOLUTION (MAX) 720p HD (1280 x 720) VIDEO RECORDING FRAME RATE 30 fps VIDEO PLAYBACK RESOLUTION (MAX) 720p HD (1280 x 720) VIDEO PLAYBACK FRAME RATE 30 fps

Source: MOTODEV > Products > DROID BIONIC by Motorola, XT865

I'm going by 2 different sources. First, I heard Sanjay, and another rep both says 1080P playback, but 720P record. Second,

I wonder how different the at&t and supposed verizon iphones will be

Verizon's lineup is the best it has ever been...
the new droid and htc, samsung and lg android phones

Iphone 4(supposed)

and the new windows 7 phone....

I am most interested in checking the Bionic(and Atrix) out to see which phone will make me switch back to Android(and to what carrier)

I understand where you are coming from. Switch "back" shouldnt be a question or hesitation...

I dealt with Apple and their garbage products for so long, on both sides of the counter, and on 3 levels in the professional workplace. They are rude, non-customer centered, and could care less about anything else unless you flash a credit card.

Then came Android... :) 100% customization on all levels... Warranty and Insurance handled by the carrier billing system... open source technology.. Im not stuck to a freakin website for music and OS updates like a chained up dog...

I guarantee EVERYONE that the Verizon Iphone CDMA will be 100% the same as ATT's, just without voice/data multitasking since CDMA doesnt allow it. Granted, it will have better coverage... way better coverage... but Same policies. Same Prices. Same procedures. These Iphone fanboys that complain that "ATT wont let me do this".. "or that"... all over the internet will learn that AT&T doesnt control the iphone. Apple does. ATT only gives it wireless signal. So will Verizon. This "customer service" attitude and stuff in regards to the iphone wont change just because its on Verizon now. Verizon will not give you a $30 credit due to the inconvenience and frustration you had at the store. LOL They arent ATT. LOL :D

Isn't a .3 MP front camera a little behind the times? Also, only 720P recording and playback? Isn't one of the main benefit of dual core 1080P recording and play back?

Yeah, in addition to the above posts, I recall in a video of a phone demo that it was stated the output was 1080p thanks to the Tegra 2. I find it a little annoying that the FFC is 0.3MP (640x480). It matters little vs the 1.3MP (1280x1024) in terms of video calls because even the bigger sensors probably only do 30fps at VGA resolution, but if you're taking stills with the FFC, it's quite a hit in resolution. Apparently it's not an exclusivity thing since the Atrix seems to have the same FFC. I'm tempted to get this phone as I'm annual upgrade eligible (for the final time) in May, but I may just see what 2H 2011 brings and just run out my 2yr contract which is up in Dec because I want to switch to 1yr going forward. All these 4G firsts demo'd at CES seem to each have trade offs. The Bionic would be great if they eventually make Webtop available, but I'm guessing that will come with the next Moto offering once AT&T has their period of exclusivity. Between LTE, these phones, and the impending Gingerbread tablets, my laptop due for replacement this Fall may not end up being replaced by another laptop. Gotta love technology!

You know, I was just thinking the same thing. Are they even at CES? I know they are releasing their "Playbook" or what ever it is called. I have an 8330 Curve that is hitting the ditch for the first available LTE device.

Here is what I found about the BB Playbook.
RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook using a 1GHz OMAP 4430 processor -- Engadget

It will be running a TI DualCore 1Ghz OMAP 4430 Processor, from the info Engadget posted its blazingly fast and they even played Quake on it. RIM says they still have work to do but Engadget found it to be quite polished. So the heat is on.

Rim will still survive soley because of Corp America especially Gov or any DoD related companies. ...however they won't be anywhere near the top like Android and Apple.

1. BB's are a lot more secure
2. they have $hitty games which equal less playing around on your phone all day
3. How many awesome cool android or apple phones have you seen without a camera? Try getting one of those into a secure location. I think this is the one and only reason Rim produces versions of the bold without a camera.

I work for the dod, our command is getting rid of bb asap. Their tenor is passed.

I personally don't want a 4.3" screen, it's just too big for me. Because of that issue I'm kind of disappointed with the VZW's 4G phones introduced at CES this year, they're all 4.3". The Atrix is the phone I want...but alas, I'm tied to vzw.

Honestly what is the difference between a 4 and a 4.3. Its not even like the .3 is straight out or straight up. They measure the screen diagonally. Now if you want to complain about the atrix having 1 gig of ram and the bionic only having 512 thats fine. but to say 4 is ok and 4.3 is too big is just silly.

^U do have a point. If I can find that pic....there is pic of the X and Bionic side by side....and the Bionic looks shorter than the X.

Like the X and EVO. Both 4.3" and the X is longer than the EVO. And the X being longer didnt make a difference fitting in my pocket or using it. I never used or held an EVO tho.

This is the pic I saw:

Honestly what is the difference between a 4 and a 4.3.
Typically 1.3-1.8mm of actual width added to the phone (based on Droid X vs. Evo vs. Galaxy S). Depending on the size of your hand and whether you need to add a case, that can be the difference between a secure grip on the phone in your hand or just having it by the fingertips. Those with larger than average hands or those who don't use a case may actually prefer the 4.3" (or larger) size. The average person using a case probably won't.

Did you wonder why they say "record and edit HD.." but say you share at 1080p? Alot of companies use HD to mean 720p with True or Full HD meaning 1080p. The Bionic can output 1080p video via the HDMI hookup (I dont know if this means it somehow converts the 720p video you shoot, or if they're just stupid).

I'm looking forward to the Bionic, but I probably won't make the switch right away. I want to see what it actually will do and read about the experiences of the early adopters. If after a few months there are no major snafus and most people are happy with it then I may switch - its also a price-dependent thing - I'm not going to shell out a half-grand for any phone. My Droid X is working great, rooted & OC/UV - it does everything I want and need and the 3G service data speed is pretty good as well here in Denver. That said it will be interesting to see what will be available in the next few months...
