Mac pricing broken down

I don't think I got ripped off, $900 for an iMac with 4gb of RAM, a dual core processor (that was the average when I got this machine), an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT and a 250 gb HD doesn't seem like a ripoff to me.
That sounds pretty good to me for $900, but that depends on when it was purchased...if you paid 900 for those same specs today, then I would consider it a rip-off since it should be less.... But the pricing for the model on that link is a little crazy.

3 years ago about. Maybe a little bit less.
I would consider it a ripoff as well if I bought it now. I payed a little over $1000 for my hexa core gaming machine, and I haven't ran into a game I can't run with no issues yet, even Crysis. :p

I paid $1700 for my nicely loaded iMac with 4GB of RAM 1TB of storage, upgraded graphics card etc...The biggest thing Apple haters always forget in these lame arguments is a pretty big one...the monitor. Go price a 27 inch LED backlit display on par with what comes with the 27inch iMacs and you are easily looking at $600 or more and thats before you have even started to build the actual computer. I recently saw a PC bundle including a 26 inch monitor, all the specs were very close to what I have and it was $1500. So it works out to be maybe a few hundred dollars more for a Mac whens its all said and done, big deal. I will GLADLY pay that to never have to see the Windows OS and all its bloatware, spyware, viruses and all the other crap that comes along with it. I switched to Apple 4 years ago after 20+ years on Windows, best thing I ever did.

I would NEVER buy a Mac Pro. I agree... that machine is terribly overpriced. The laptops though are a different story, especially the Macbook Air. No competition.

Mac Pro's are good for servers, or graphic designers (or anything else that uses a buttload of RAM/CPU speed) that's about it. Maybe bragging about your 18 gb of RAM and 8 core processor too, but that really isn't worth the money. >.>

UltraSharp U2711 69cm (27?W) Monitor with PremierColor Details - exact same panel Apple use in their iMac. $1000

Or, if you prefer, go with Apple's 27" for the same price.
