How Do You Carry Your Droid (Case/SnapOn Cover)

I tried the Zagg. Unfortunately they don't use the application spray anymore and instead give you this black sponge soaked with some sort of liquid. My problem is that the black sponge left little pieces of black sponge on the film protector and as hard as I tried I couldn't get it all off. I emailed Zagg this last weekend after attempting the install and I finally heard from them today. They state, and I quote:

"I'm sorry to hear that your installation didn't go well. We no longer use the SHIELDspray application process because many times when we would ship the SHIELDspray with orders, they would leak and destroy the products that we were sending. I do apologize. In general, our lifetime replacement guarantee only covers normal wear-and-tear issues, such as scratching and peeling, and typically does not cover installation difficulties, however, I am willing to extend a one-time courtesy replacement for you. Also, as the sponge did cause some of the installation trouble, I would be willing to waive the normal shipping and handling fee that we would charge for the warranty requests.
To process your replacement request you will be asked to provide a credit or debit card. Your card will be pre-authorized for the retail value of the product you are replacing. You will have 25 days to return your original product. When we receive the original product back, the pre-authorized charge on your credit or debit card will be removed. Your card will be charged in full if the original product is not returned within 25 days."

Sounds as if they are doing me a GREAT favor. You decide if this is a company and product you want to spend $25 on.

Heh, I got the same response. Told them to get bent.

Naked with the Verizon holster.

Never cared for any contraption wrapped around any of my phones. It always gets in the way or restricts use in some way. I've always used holsters. My Droid is no different. I ended up getting a nice leather Nite Ize holster from AndroidandMe.com for $15 + $5 shipping (also got a car charger). It's solid construction with a velcro closer. The clip is easier to use than others I've had and seems quite durable.

I agree, I cannot imagine having a cover on a phone but my wife loves them.

I had a great leather belt case with a magnet closure for my Treo. But the Treos I had all had the little antenna, so it gave you something to grab and pull out of the pouch. I am not sure pulling a droid or similar out would be that easy, more fumbling required.

The plastic snap case leaves a lot exposed, but it is easy access. It seems fairly protected with the screen on the internal side. However, I have had it not secured a couple of times resulting in falls...

I want to thank you for the tip on this website. I got the Nite Ize case with the belt clip. The drawing feature for me was a place to put money and ID. I'm going to New Orleans next week and I wanted something as safe as possible. With the number of pick pockets and purse snatchers, I didn't think a purse would be very safe. Anyway, I ordered it on Tuesday and got an immediate notification that it had shipped. The first estimate of delivery from UPS was Tuesday 12/29 which would do me no good since I'm leaving Tuesday morning. Well it was delivered today! I didn't pay anything extra for shipping but between the company and UPS, I am all ready for my trip! Thank you again. The case is perfect for my needs!

You are most welcome. That's what a forum is all about. I have not used mine in that way -- yet. I'm quite sure that opportunity will come up early next year.

I really like the suede leather. Very classy...

Naked with Phantom Skinz. A friend was using another friends Droid that had a different screen protector on it, then when he used mine he said "Wow, I like yours a lot better without a screen protector!" Yeah, it's that invisible and responsive.
I either carry it in my pocket or a leather belt pouch.

So far all I have is the screen protector that verizon istalled for me and I like that. I did just buy a Golla pouch off of ebay though, haven't got it yet. I will buy a case when I find one I like... love the seidio cases, but $30! That's a little expensive. I bought a universal holder for the car that came with a lighter adapter and a panavise dash mount. They will install a magnet if needed. I went this route so that I can use it with a case.

I was carrying mine naked for a while. It fell off a table (no damage) and I immediately went out and bought the Body Glove shell/holster combo. I didn't like it and it was incredibly difficult to take off. I used my old leather holster with magnet that I had with my Samsung i-760 for a while.

I finally went to the Verizon store and bought the Verizon shell/holster combo. I really like it. I moved back to Maryland last week and realized that with all the clothes on for the cold weather it is hard to wear a holster so now I am back to naked Droid in pants pocket or interior coat pocket. Saving the holster for warmer weather.

I initially ordered the Verizon black leather "hard case" but was instantly disappointed that this VZW case would not fit into the Motorola car dock that I ordered at the same time.

So, now, after a bit of looking, I have ordered and installed the Wrapsol protection system ($17.31 from buy.com). Wrapsol offers a fairly complete system including a glossy screen protector film, and matte body film (0.14 mm thick) along with a custom installation/cleaning spray, rubber squigee, and microfiber (no lint) cleaning cloth.

As an engineer, I liked the reviews of Wrapsol on YouTube and the toughness results shown here:

http://www.wrapsol.com/HtmlAssets/files/SGS strength test.pdf

which shows it's penetration toughness is roughly twice as strong as the Invisible Shield and Body Guardz.

I just received and installed it and today and here are my initial thoughts:

- Very easy to install and comes with a very complete kit to cover everything
- Front screen film is glossy and like the OEM glass to the touch, and fits the screen very well. It also cover all of the glass, including the bottom soft keys, which is a definite plus compared to Verizon's screen protectors.
- Thickness is about the right size to make the front screen feel flush with the aluminum screen housing
- Matte back/side pieces fit well and look very nice when installed

However, I am still not completely sold on this system and will have to report back with more results on the installation and Wrapsol's customer service.

My issues with my initial/instant installation are:

- MY KIT IS MISSING PIECES! The installation instructions show 7 pieces and my kit only has 5 of them. (missing the bottom most pieces of the back and front.) And my kit also lacked any "protective covering" removable pieces to cover the external electrical connections.
- The complete kit should cover just about everything, except for the thin strip (on the back) located above the camera and flash LED area. As such, the "complete kit" is not quite complete.
- Finally, my first installation had a small bubble on the screen protector above the ear speaker. I followed the instructions and lifted the film, re-misted it and placed it back down. So, now, the bubble is gone but there are a couple of slightly "hazy" areas on the front screen. The instructions say that any "haziness" should disappear within 24 hours so I will be eagerly waiting for that.

I am interested in if any other Droid owners are using Wrapsol and will report back with more thought and my customer satisfaction experience in getting my missing pieces.

I keep a PhantomSkinz on because I don't like how the naked screen feels and the PhantomSkinz is a little less smudge prone. The Zagg one is way less smudge prone but I didn't like the orange peel texture.

I just got a Seidio case and I love it. It's thin and its a real flat black soft touch. And it makes it impossible for my battery cover to fall off when I'm pulling the phone out of my pocket. I never liked the shiny black bezel and now it's hidden.

Naked in the left front pocket. No case because I use the MM dock and I don't want extra bulk. Had the Verizon screen protector for the first 2 months, but took it off when it got scratched. I always felt a little silly using the screen protector because in protecting the screen to keep it looking great, it actually makes the screen look bad all the time. This screen is glass (gorilla glass if that means anything to you) and very scratch resistant.
