should i get a refurbed iphone4?

I know the title of this is a little misleading.. but i am SICK of my crappy eris that i have loved for so long.. the past couple of weeks has really had me contemplating on going to at&t with my husband.. he has a captivate.. ( i am on my family's share plan with verizon)... honestly i am sick of verizon all together but since i've been with them for so long it's hard to switch lol.. the service in my area is getting bad...and the verizon employees are asses too... i was wondering if getting an "authentic" refurbed iphone4 from at&t if it would be worth it? I've never had a refurb so i don't know what to expect... don't get me wrong. i love android and how i can manipulate it to get it like i want but i guess i just want change.. i mean i can always go back to verizon but i know alot of people switched from the iphone to come to android.. just wanting opinions.. thanks

Verizon is announcing the iPhone on Tuesday.....it will probably be available a couple weeks after the announcement

yeah.. but i am not up for an upgrade... i will have my phone a year the end of feb. so i would have to buy the phone outright since no other plan is available either.. so that's not really an option... thanks though =)

refurbs will look just like new and will work just fine. Switch to a refurb iPhone if you really think you will enjoy it and you have good AT&T service in your area. It's up to you!

Grab one dude, I have been tweaking my wifes iphone for two weeks now its awesome, get one, jailbreak it and have a blast, some of the themes are sick. Honestly I dont want one but they are a pretty awesome device after you crack it.

wonder if Verizon is going to have early upgrades to existing customers.

i know at&t did early upgrades for users whose contract isn't up yet. They just to resign another 2 years. on top of what they had before.

Ok, I just went to VZW's web site to check if I am eligible (my new every 2 date is 8/18). I have four lines on my account; it says "not yet" for all four numbers, then, at the very bottom, in big letters, "YES, YOU'RE ELIGIBLE" with a promise to send me an email "shortly". I'll let you know if I hear anything. Or, try it yourself.

The early upgrade date for existing customers is February 3 (compared with new customers, who have to wait until Feb 10.)

thanks for all of the opinions guys.. i never thought i would go for an iphone but i guess i am making the leap.. i was always anti apple bc it was over rated and priced but after actually playing around with one i'm kinda excited about changing carriers ( since it will be cheaper than verizon) here is link i found today..

just wait for the LTE 4G iphone 5. at the rate apple releases iphones, you'll have the new one by then end of the year. Just root your eris and wait patiently.

the iphone4 for verizon is YERTER-YEARS technology

still debating if i want to get the iphone.

I have a droid eris and it has been acting really laggy. if i get the iphone i will miss PDANET on my droid phone.

Sorry I missed this but the X has a screen door compared to the iphone, I am a fan of the X and real estate is nice but IMO the X has one of the worst displays especially if your looking at motoblur.

i think you can just search your market for the 1 click root app.
Then think about what type of ROM you want. If you like sense, i recommend you head over to the root section of the forum, because i dont know which ones there are.
I HIGHLY recommend flashing TazzFroyo rom. It's a 2.2 Froyo rom and it's pretty amazing. It's also a Vanilla ROM:

i was running v24 and it was great, i havent flashed v26 yet.
also, bookmark the XDA forum too, LOTS of great info you'll need there!

p.s. its HIGHLY unlikely that anything will happen, these phones dont brick easily. but if something does happen, it aint my fault! ;P

or wait for the Htc Mozart(Windows Phone)

or even so, see if you can find an android phone like an incredible or OG droid on craigslist...i definitely know droids are really cheap and I know incredibles should be as well...the phone is nearly a year old

But i say go for the iphone 4 or even try the Windows phone out when it comes

Edit: I didn't realize you had service issues....I recommend a Samsung Focus or HTC surround on At&t before the iphone but you can't go wrong with any of the three

yea, if you can find either one of those phones, it would be good too. I got a great deal on an Inc, but the eris makes an appearance every now and then.

What;s funny is how people are trying to sell an Eris, that has been EOL'd, for nearly a year for like 150 bucks...the people who sell it for 100 dollars or less, have the right idea

but i've seen quite a few of the devices i mentioned on craigslist....

well I don't have motoblur and screen door? and IMO i prefer the X over any phone out currently. Best battery life of android phones currently out, no Super Amoled to drain my battery and I'm not stuck on 2.1 like the galaxy S phones
