Root [ROM] UD 3.0.0. beta released (GB)

I just broke out my old droid because im so sick of the Fascinates lack of even 2.2! I haven't actually activated the droid online yet because I have a question...I tried the gps and no luck. I tried to find something about it but couldn't find anything. Does anyone else have gps working? Thanks

Gps was working for me.

Anybody else not a fan of the way the apps in the drawer scroll off of the top and bottom of the screen?
Neat effect but seemed very laggy to me.

OK, that is the default 3D home screen that was introduced in 2.1 / 2.2 (I think it was Eclair 2.1.x but it might not have made it until 2.2 ForYo).

If you don't like it turn it off - or else use a third party launcher such as ADW or Launcher Pro. Both of those have the ability to disable the 3D home screen as well (LP comes with it disabled by default, ADW may, I don't know b/c I've never used it).

Yeah, it came in Eclair, but I believe it was only for the N1, and phones beyond it. The OG never got the 3D app drawer, just the live WPs. I think it's actually quite smooth using LPs 3D drawer vs. the stock launchers'.

GPS Working without issue.

Did run into the airplane mode switch needed after a call. I'm ok with it actually.... odd. Everything else is simply so fast and smooth that this one thing just doesn't annoy me enough to remove the ROM

Same here. The only things wrong with this ROM, from my experience, are the auto-brightness not working and the data dropping out after phone calls. It's a really easy fix though, considering I already used the handy power widget on one of my home screens. All I did was put the brightness adjustment and airplane mode button on it, and since I'm not making more than 5-10 calls a day at most, it doesn't really get me down. Everything else about this ROM is just awesome. Super fast, looks great, almost never have any lag issues, no random reboots, GPS and navigation work, all of my apps came back from the market, etc. Great stuff and I really can't wait for the last few bugs to get figured out. I've been checking threads on this ROM constantly. Exciting stuff!

Apparently a new build was pushed out early this morning but the DL link is leading to a 404 error (complete with cute little Shockwave Flash page).

More when it comes back up. The version number hasn't changed, and neither has the changelog (from what I can tell) so I'm not sure why it was pushed this morning...or why it is not there now.

Tried this ROM for a day. Loved it for the most part, unfortunately it's not suitable for daily use. Many people have been reporting 3G drops, and I was getting them in spades. Every 10-15 minutes the phone would lose data entirely (3G and 1X). My typical solutions (toggling WiFi, toggling Data, toggling Airplane Mode) did not work, so I found myself rebooting the phone 3-4 times per hour just to get a data connection back which only proceeded to work for another 15 minutes or so, if I was lucky.

I'll definitely go back to it once this issue has been resolved.

Is it from UD or the thread on droidforums (which I've noticed you posting in ;) )? I only tried one of Jeff's builds but it was buggier for me than this one is, so I went back to Froyo before giving this one a shot. I've always been a UD fan in the past and this ROM is nearly perfect as well.

I'm one of the extremely few lucky ones in that this is not occurring for me at all, thus far. Of course, I am on WiFi at home, and with the wintry weather we had last night this is my 4th day at home continuously...

From the UD thread. I tried Jeff's also, but the UD beta is already chock full of stuff that makes my phone usable again, even with tons of apps installed.

Yeah John I don't see a changelog either. I don't know what's different in the update. I did notice Nexus S is now on the list, or maybe it's been there a while....It's odd there's no changelog if there's an update

I could get the updated beta (last updated today, 1/10, @ 5:34pm) from UD forum. The ftp link on DF appears to work as well.

From what I saw on UD-forum, the dropped call issue is still unresolved.

edit: updated OP with current change log

Yeah, that is yet another update. The previous one showed the file had been updated this morning at 12:54 AM

To be more precise, I'm seeing the same Changelog as before.

The only thing BlackDroid did was replace a broken link with the same beta. Nothing has changed in UD3 (YET).

Hmm, interesting. The file sizes and the File hashes are the same as well....

CRC32: 6D9EA169
MD5: 9EA7AE54801C6FE563372C8745483FE6
SHA-1: 8B30DA1D4D8BFC30A3E89CAF896DA3C6C2586C86

Same file most definitely. Hence the lack of a new changelog / version change.

Thanks, Chief.

I'm starting to wonder if there's a new baseband that's supposed to be out that would fix this. Maybe a piece of the puzzle is missing.

I know where to get it it wont install The problem is you need to uninstall the launcher that comes with the ROM. I swapped back to 2.5 since I was having issues with reboots and not all programs worked or downloaded.

Larry

No you don't. It should just install. Next time you hit the home button it will ask which one.
