IPhone, will you switch?

Negative. I've had absolutely 0 problems with my Droid, even with the 3.5mm Jack, no dust under screen, no keys falling off my keyboard, battery life is as good as a 1.1 ghz OC can do. I'm holding out for what I feel will be a more superior phone, the Bionic.

*EDIT*
Yeah, using Launcher Pro but not the paid version (I'd buy it at this point except I deploy to Iraq for 6 months in a couple weeks so no point).

Never heard of AppBrain or doubletwist...I'll have to give it a try.

Does the paid version of launcher pro run more smoothly?

Too often the apptray slowly populates. Or when I hit the home button after using an app the home screen will populate slowly, one icon/widget at a time.

You could try a different launcher. I had some of the same issues with LauncherPro *Others have not had any issues. Not all phones are created equally!* I am using ADWLauncher and all of the issues that LP had are gone. Feels very smooth.

The iPhone has ALWAYS had kinetic scrolling. Maybe you were just doing it wrong.

So you are telling me that with a single flick you can scroll through dozens of screens on mobile Safari? I have never seen that. Find me a video of it. I couldn't find one.

There is even a jailbreak app called quick scroll that adds this functionality, although it is not very elegant to use.

The definition of kinetic scrolling is totally different than scrolling thr several pages after you release your finger.

Kinetic scrolling simply means that the screen doesn't stop scrolling as SOON as you release your finger from it.

Definition: Kinetic scrolling is the combination of regular, drag-finger-on-screen scrolling with an additional movement after the finger is lifted off the screen. Based on how fast the finger was dragged on the screen, the duration, speed and deceleration of the additional movement can vary.

Under advanced settings>memory settings make sure to select build caches as needed. Also select. Under general settings select "keep in memory".

Yeah, that option is checked. I absolutely love the UI of Launcher Pro. Unfortunately it seems that it lags a lot too. But the look is sweet. Best I've ever had. ADWLauncher...I'll have to look into that. It seems to me that ADWLauncher gave me problems as well. But you have me thinking...I've read/heard that you shouldn't have multiple launchers set up -- e.g. if you have a choice of launchers but one set as default, you shouldn't have widgets up and running on other launchers. I'm not sure...have to check it out, but I may have some widgets running on other launchers. I'll have to break out homeswitcher and see if everything else is clean.

Fine, then it has a far less useful version of kinetic scrolling. Scrolling one page at a time kinda sucks.

Please note quote at botom of ALL of my posts.

On another note, Apple doesn't make crap, it did for a while but I do have to admit that for the most part (known iPhone antenna issues asside) apple makes good products. I have a 3gen iPod nano and it still works fine. I even like iTunes. Apple is for people who just want to turn something on and have it work, and not want/have to fiddle with it. For the most part it does. I've been toying with getting my wife a macbook, for the photography buisness. It just works well.

That being said, iPhone is not for me (again see signature), I've seen and used the interface and DO NOT LIKE IT!!!! But for some people who are happy with what they are givin, an iPhone is fine. I like to customize and I hate iPhones mostly on principle.

The paid version has more widgets, one thing though, problem I had is if you had ANY widgets on the original home screen every time you hit the home button it is populating THOSE AS WELL. This will cause MASSIVE lag no matter what launcher you use. You might want to check and delete them from the original home screen, yes even the Google search bar. Personally I deleted everything on there (still have all my stuff on my original backup before I rooted so no worries), after that I have little to no lag in population and I have my original droid I bought back in may I think. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM I DIDN

Wasn't interested in 2007. Still not interested in 2011.

@ headbanger: I've found it best to uninstall other launchers that you're not using and just run w/ 1 at a time. LP became smoother for me when I got rid of ADW that was sitting 'dormant' in the background.

I took off all the widgets and icons on my other launchers and will physically uninstall the other launchers so all I have is launcherpro. Someone else just hit on this and it makes too much sense.

As an aside, here's a great article from Droid Life.

To me, I think this may have tipped the scale back in favor of me sticking with Android.

(sure, I know there are exceptions, but I've had many friends/family tell me that they switched over to Apple and have never looked back). I feel if I get an iPhone and like it, I'll probably go 100% Apple and ditch the HP laptops and Dell PC (it's old anyway).

Thats true in my case. Got a Macbook Pro for graduation and can't believe I ever used a PC. PC's are way slower when compared to a Mac, not sure why, but everytime I use one now (doesnt matter whose it is) it always lags.

Except PCs are faster, the same hardware will run software faster on a Windows machine than on a Mac, benchmarks prove that. Also, for the same price you will get faster hardware and when combined with the fact that Windows is faster you get a double whammy that make's PCs even faster. If you like Fisher Price child's toys ie Mac OSX just say so.

If you like repairing your computer and reinstalling your Windows OS several times a year like I've ALWAYS had to do the past 15 years I've had a Windows PC, due to viruses/lag/random breakdowns, then you're right I'd rather get that superior Fisher price toy.

i still dont understand how people get viruses, I have never used an anti virus program, and have never gotten a virus before. granted i have only been using pcs since win 95. and thats even through my early teen years when I had discovered porn and the utility of the web.

EXACTLY. I've been to the bowels of the internet and don't use anti-virus programs or even a firewall (though I will admit that my router probably blocks some stuff), and I never get viruses. My first computer was Windows 3.1!

Apple is EVIL! Period.
Would NEVER own a piece of their second rate, behind the times CRAP!

That being said.. Drrrooooiiiddd!!!

I think this is the most accurate explanation in this thread. I'm sorry, form over function is not cool with me, and so neither is Apple. You know what else I hate? Encouraging computer stupidity. So Apple is just out of the question altogether.

Wow, you must be really dumb then, I have had my system running for longer than you could go without an OS reinstall from the sounds of it. What's also funny is that if you ask a security expert what OS is the least secure they will answer OSX in a heartbeat. There is a hacking competition help every year, can't remember the name, but OSX is usually hacked in under a minute, Windows usually takes an hour or so. Mac zealots are really funny, Steve Jobs is basically David Koresh and Jim Jones by a different name, keep drinking the kool aid and don't be surprised when a very manly looking woman burns your house down.

Here I have to agree my iMac is so much faster than the PC I used to own

Well I build my own gaming rigs (which you cant do with Apple), and I have never seen a retail Apple product thats faster... Im not an Apple hater but these things really are for those that arent ready for a PC or like simplicity... They can be hacked just as easy, but the market and business use are so much lower for the Apple that hackers arent as hot on them... Most banks and places the hackers wanna see into are PC based... I even see Apple starting to disappear from schools and im seeing more labs full of Dells in my area...
