Help Question about X10 ROMs

Im using the freeX10 2.2 custom ROM at the mo and the only main thing thats not working is the camera which i rarely use anyways, its very fast and stable iv been using it since thursday without any issues, as for updates when Z from xda forums has fixed any issues with the freeX10 ROM e puts a hotfix dowmload link which can b installed with xrecovery

i believe Z has the camera semi-working but still playing with it before he releases the fix for it so it could be out there soon. not sure what other bugs it has, i only put it back on my phone in a serious way yesterday and so far i've had no issues at all.

I've now been told that 2.2 runs on the SD card as it thinks its the phones memory. That's something else i'd rather give a miss.

I think i'll wait until 100% working out of BETA

I'm now using Eminence and JIT Enabler 2.0, which gives me a benchmark of 807

i'm pretty sure its installed directly on the phone, it installs the same way as any other rom in xrecovery and with root explorer i can access the files installed on the phone, not just the SD card so i would say thats not true.
i think the first release of it was done on the sd card and you could dual boot it but the current one is a direct phone rom.
i've been on it for a couple of days, no issues but still waiting on the camera being sorted out.

If the camera gets sorted, I'll install it and try it out

How much extra work is it to have the ROM be a dual boot(2.2 and 2.1)? I know one of the early beta's was dual boot and that would allow for people to have quicker access to their camera.

I believe that the only reason dual boot was possible, was because the 2.2 alpha was installed only to the SD card.

But here is what I do.

1) Boot xRecovery
2) Go to backup/restore
3) Choose Backup and wait for the backup to complete
4) On your SD Card, locate to xrecovery/backup and rename your backup to something you will remember.
5) Now you can wipe the phone and install whichever other ROM you want.
Setup your new ROM with all your contacts, apps, etc.

6) When you want to go back to your original ROM that you had in the first place, follow steps 1 to 4 above to backup your new ROM

7) Then wipe your phone in xrecovery again, and go to backup/restore, choose restore, and choose the folder you backed up earlier
8) Now your phone will be back to the way it was before you wiped it in the first place.

That is what I do and its very quick, and easy to do :)

All things considered that is very quick and easy, but for someone that uses his camera a lot especially with a new puppy in the house... that won't be convenient for me :) I'll just wait either for a new dual boot or for the camera to work on 2.2.

The same reason I won't keep 2.2 installed. I have a newborn baby so you can imagine how often I use the camera lol

Hey congrats... I'll be having one of those in June :)

Thanks and congrats

Enjoy your freedom while you can lol

Being a dad is the best feeling in the world, but getting up in the middle of the night, to the sound of a crying baby (my son sounds like a screaming cat so it's very annoying lol) is very frustrating and stressful lol
