When you long-press and move a shortcut off the desktop (to the trash can), you are automatically sent to the UNINSTALL wizard. You can simply choose Cancel if you want to keep the app, or tap OK if you want to uninstall the app. At first, I was slightly annoyed and thought maybe this was a feature of that particular widget. Been then I've observed it happening on other widgets and apps. I think it's really just another cool feature of Home++ beta.

I thought it always did this?

Maybe ... but I just discovered it.

If you grab an icon and drop it in the trash real fast it just removes the shortcut but if you hover on the trash for a few seconds the uninstall prompt pops up...
You're right! COOL!!!

You sure that won't get annoying after the 1000th time?

Nope. Not now that I understand the feature better (Thanks to GrandMasterB). ;)

Don't worry. Android 2.1 is going to make these programs change significantly or be rendered useless. The 2.1 home screen kicks ass - I wouldn't run an overly of any of these replacements.

I might agree with you if 2.1 has more than 5 desktops. But as of right now, I'm running SEVEN! Then again, maybe 2.1 has enough other features stuffed under the hood that will make me change my mind. And that's OK too. But for now, Home++ beta is working great!

When is 2.1 coming?
Verizon has stated that the DROID's next update is late January. But we're still uncertain if that's going to be 2.1 ... or 2.0.2. Nobody knows. Those are the facts. Everything is just speculation.

After seeing this "new" feature I reinstalled Home++. My question is can the stock apps be deleted like this? It gave me the option to delete Amazon MP3 this way but I decided not to even try since I thought I read that doing so may brick my phone (from that green name guy with a C).

It will act as though it's going to uninstall the stock app, but when you attempt to uninstall it will tell you that it "can't be uninstalled". :(

You CAN uninstall a app/delete it through ADB if your rooted, but it isn't really safe. Renaming it is much safer because if you decide to use a official update you can semi brick your Droid and you better know how o use ADB through recovery if you wanna fix it. A lot of people found this out the hard way a few weeks ago. On the other hand if you NEVER plan to use a stock update/ROM then your fine.
