Root About rooting optimus 2x

I have Lg optimus 2x and I want my phone to be rooted. So I looked for on the internet and tried some of rooting programs. But it doesn't work and I wonder if there is rooting program for the optimus 2x phone? Sorry for bad grammar.

replying to qwer, one of problems is that the when you detach and reattach the battery, the phone gets reset. but the reset doesn't mean the downloaded files gone. The time is wrong and it automatically sets to greenwich time. Also when I turn off the phone it vibrates nonstop. So then I have to detach the battery. It freezes quite often.

p.s. sometimes, the camera doesn't work......

Those seem more like teething troubles and by your own admission it is a test phone.

In addition, i‘m not able to download some apps. Anyway, i still don‘t recommend to buy this phone.

From a PR perspective LG should have perhaps chosen testers more carefully. They probably hadn’t imagined its test phase shortcomings being aired in a public forum, let alone the tester wanting to root the phone.

I picked up a production model of the phone the other day (I live in Korea), and I can say that all the problems described by droidbee have been solved. The only complaint I have about the phone so far is the camera. I haven't tried it in bright lights, but under somewhat dim conditions (even with the flash) the images come out incredibly grainy. I'll be playing around with it some more later, but for now, its the low point of the phone.

In response to qwer, the phone comes with 512 MB RAM, and 16 gigs(12 usable) internal storage (upped from the original reports of 8 gigs)

Thanks for the update, its a mix of good news and bad. :( Have you tried lowering the resolution? I read some time back you should only expect a decent image from 5MP resolution unless you have an SLR due to limitation on the image processing chip. Higher resolutions being like digital zoom; grainy at best.
I do hope the storage is the same on the UK version, this is very good news.:)

Once again, from what I've read (I know, no-source sucks) only the kroean version will ship with 16 gigs of internal storage.

On the RAM note: I read everywhere about the complaints, that some newer phones only ship with 512 MB of RAM and how RAM is cheap and so on and so forth:

There is a simple solution to this: RAM, being a volatile storage, requires constant refreshing cycles to hold their information. So, basically, more RAM means more power consumption, thus requiring the developers of new phones to find a sweet spot between RAM size and consumption.

Just to give you an idea, when choosing power supplys for the PCs I build from time to time, the rule of thumb is to allocate twice the CPU's TDP to cover the RAM modules as well.

And, unless you're into massive multitasking, I think 512 MB of RAM are more than enough.

Corrections to this post are appreciated, I'm only starting to get a hang of Android.

Just my 2 cents.

Shame about the internal storage.
I must say aMpeX your very on the ball.:)

For what its worth (I am no expert) your RAM V`s Power usage proposal makes perfect sense: especially with the Moto Atrix with 1GB shipping with a larger capacity battery 1930mAh plus its got 4G to cope with.

Thanks BatfinkUK,
I felt like this had to be said, because strangely no-one (aside from one stray comment on some tec blog (I think it was engadget) which pointed me to this again) really adressed this and I think much of the whining could be prevented if everyone were aware of this.

Of course, if the Atrix 4G can ship with this massive battery, why can the Optimus 2x not, this bothers me quite a bit.

Edit: On topic (rooting) on another Thread HustlinDaily linked to a thread in the XDA developers Forum about a system dump for the Optimus 2x,

the user, who is one lucky owner of this phone, later mentions that rooting was quite easy and could be even more simplified with some tweaks.

I think this confirms that rooting the Optimus 2x is possible and easy.

So as you suggested, I went into the thread and it just said System dump. I think that doesn't sound right. IF I download the system dump, will I be able to root easily?

Well then you obviously didn't read it thoroughly.

Here's the specific post I was talking about.

xda-developers - View Single Post - [DUMP] LG SU660 Optimus 2X SYSTEM DUMP

Also, you seem to not know much about rooting, so I strongly recommend you aquire some knowledge in this field first, before actually trying to root your phone. Otherwise you might risk producing a pretty expensive paperweight.

I've been fiddling around with the camera a bit more, and all I can really say about it is that its just not very good right now. Hopefully future firmware updates will correct that, but for now, its an issue.

Also, after playing around with the phone for a while, it does seem to get sluggish after an extended period of being on. More of an OS issue, really but still a bit annoying. So anybody who gets the phone, I would suggest a periodic reboot (mine lasted about a week before it got really bad.. which is apparently longer than a lot of phones)

Once I can figure out how to attempt a root on this thing safely (I'm absolutely terrified I'll brick my shiny new phone) I'll post an update
