anybody got a list? we have a few GB ROMs out now, and i have seen it asked in multiple threads with no answer. do the froyo kernels from chevy/slayher work? i know liquid posted some with his GBv1 ROM, but those are absolutely brutal on my battery. I am now using UD 3.0.0 RC2 and it is sweet, but i would like to run a little higher than the stock 800mHz.

Use the milestone overclock app. You don't need to switch from the stock kernel because BD didn't change it from the CM kernel. It is way better than having to find kernels that are good for battery or keeps your phone cool yadda yadda yadda. I may also note that since using this my battery has been pretty good. It has lasted me through the day ever since I started using it. You can find the thread by going to the CM section of droid forums.

will milestone clock it past 800mHz?? i am already using SetCPU and it says 800 is the highest the stock kernel from 3.0.0 RC2 will go.

AMEN!!!!!!

1000 MHz vsel = 66 (default value for 800) - rock solid.

thank you someone on this forum knows how awesome this app is. I am telling you, the best way to overclock the droid to date. You can set it to any speed that your phone can handle. If you try a speed and your phone doesn't like it then just reboot the phone and you will be fine.

For the most part any kernel that works on Froyo AFAIK will work on Gingerbread. IIRC, our 'old' kernel version was 2.6.29 and back in the day the tethering features were stripped out of the (then) upcoming 2.6.32 kernel, which the use of was fully implemented with the Froyo update. So, unless the Gingerbread update is also going to include a kernel update, we should be good.

As far as the Milestone OC, I may have to look into it again, but the last I heard, it really only worked on a CM 6.x.x rom with the kernel that was stock for said rom.

figures, guess i'll uninstall. i have seen people post that they have gotten froyo kernels to work, but i am too chicken to try it until i have a confirmed report from a trusted source. like i said before, it has been asked in almost every GB ROM thread, but i still haven't seen a cut and dry "yes".

Teddy & Orange, it works on UD 3 GB beta (haven't tried the RC yet, but which uses the stock GB kernel as compiled from the CM source) plus Jeffv2's GB ROM (same), and, of course, CM7 nightlies.

I've used it on all three - no issues until I tried to use a ridiculously low vsel with a 1200 MHz OC kernel lol...

However, you need to have the stock GB kernel installed - I'm not sure yet, but I think LGB may not be using stock (IIRC, my LFY 1.7-1.96 always had Slayher's kernels with them)

i am using UD 3.0.0 RC2 with the kernel that was included in the install and MilestoneOC will not work for me. every time i open it and click "load module" it says "failed to load module". i have tried rebooting and stopping SetCPU in application settings but neither of them help solve the issue. sounds to me like the kernel was changed for RC2, although i can't look because device info is not in the Android settings section of UD, and you cannot get to the UD extras menu on RC2 for whatever reason. if you have any other solutions, i would love to hear them, but honestly it would just be easier for me to flash .zips the old way at this point.

Is the UD settings a known issue, or just you?

If it is just you, did you wipe before installing RC2?

If it is not just you, and is a known issue, (and IIRC, I remember seeing BD saying that he was moving to a custom kernel soon when I was on B1) then yeah, you're out of luck as far as the Milestone OC app is concerned.

I know that these kernels will work for sure, b/c Liquid has them linked for his GB release: Index of /DL/LGB/KERNELS

UD settings is a known issue, it is listed in the "broken" section of the changelog for RC2 and although it says you can open by long pressing the search button, i (and others) cannot. i know about Liquids kernels, but they are devastating on my battery which is really the only reason i switched from LiquidGB v1 to UD 3.0.0 RC2 in the first place. :(

greatly appreciated everyone, i am gonna go back to my tried and true froyo version of slayher's 1.2 for now. i don't want to get into workarounds for another app when i know that his kernels work great on my phone. thanks again for the MilestoneOC info, and i may revisit it in the future, but at this point it is much easier (for me) to do it the old way.

Right not I'm using Chevy's ULV 1100MHz kernel with Pete's GB ROM with no problems. I've used it with C-ROM Beta 1 and 2 as well.

i know your issue is a couple weeks old,but did you dowload the milestone app from the market? or the droid-specific .apk from the above droid forums thread?

using the market app will not work on the droid 1,and will give the "module failed to load" error you got.

the .apk worked great for me with cm7 and a kernel from the cyangenmod nightlies discussion thread(somewhere aound page 59 iirc). i tried it at 1200 for awhile and then dialed it back to 1000. i use setcpu to control charging/screen off/low battery profiles.
