[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

To Be honest, I will go for the Bolt. Anything is better than my HTC Droid Eris I have(although I do have KaosGingerbread on it... still holding strong though). It was my first smartphone too, and I have come to like HTC, especially their willingness to have people mod.

I am slow becoming a HTC fanboy haha I loved my Eris and Incredible . The EVO is a great phone , I have used the G2, MT4G etc... and they are all great phones .
I've tried to go to phoens with better specs and haven't been happy with any of them DroidX and Fascinate were both disapointments to me compared to my Incredible and honestly I'd probably take my Eris over the Fascinate

Yeah, I mean for me, the Thunderbolt is a HUGE step up from the Eris. All this quarreling over whether the bionic is better than the bolt because it has a dual core...i really dont care. Anything that is faster than my eris will do, and with my eris rooted, it seems really fast...

I am hoping they come out with it by early feb.

Where did you hear that? Anywho, that is what Root is for ;)

I read only at launch, but you can root :D

OR (just in case you don't want to root) there is an Android Market App called PDANet that does the same thing. Turns your phone into a hotspot using either USB or Bluetooth. I've used it ever since I've had my Dinc and it works fine for me.

I would use that as a last resort. Bluetooth tethering blows. Tethering w/ a wire isn't the best either. Root the phone and be done with it!

So, I need some official word or good leaks or something to tell me something or some good opinions.

1) Should I wait for the Thunderbolt? I ask because I have been following it and waiting for a good period of time and I have a regular flip phone currently because my other phone broke and I didn't want to upgrade with new stuff within a month of release. (or so it was suppose to be) Anyways if there is going to be an added monthly charge forced on me for 4g when I don't need it plus the data plan added fee for a smartphone I probably won't be able to swing that. So do we have any word on if the 4g pricing will be forced and what it is presumed to cost?

2) Since the Incredible HD or Incredible 2 or whatever is starting leaks and it is only going to be a 3g phone so it won't be hyped for that reason, and Verizon doesn't often hype second incarnations of a phone, when does anyone think that might see release? I ask this question because if the Thunderbolt is going to be out of my price range I want to know if I should wait for that or just decide if screen size or build quality means more to me and pick up a DX or Dinc now. I need a new phone soon as my flip phone is my last option and its on its last legs and I don't see it holding out much longer.

I hate Verizon for their secrecy I really do, at this point they aren't releasing the best of the best phones, and they are trying to be really sneaky about pricing changes and removing things. (NE2)

It sounds as if money is a concern for the phone and LTE monthly. Grab yourself a Incredible on a 1 yr and upgrade in 10 months.

If you have been following the TB, you know its been a long ride, expect that for the new leaks IMHO.

@gobluejd The main thing I really wanted was an HTC with the bigger screen like the Thunderbolt, or EVO. So with that I do like the HTC phones A LOT better than Moto, but should that smaller screen on the Incredible be a reason for me to get a Droid X, or is it still worth it? (in your opinion of course, I realize not everyone is the same in this)

The INC is the first phone that I have not cared about other releases (Droid II, X, Fasinate etc). I would be happy with my INC for another year honestly. I am in a position where I can upgrade my bosses phone for me, and she wants my INC.

So that being said, if you want a Bigger screen, hold off for a month or less and get a TB, at a cost of probably $250 on a 2yr. Or get a INC for CHEAP, on a 1yr. It comes down to what you can afford, right?

If you like sense, then rule out any MOTO, especially if you ROOT.

Yeah, all I really need to know for sure is if on top of the data charge I will also be forced into a 4g charge cause that would add up and I really don't need 4g at all for any reason, especially cause I don't live in an area that directly has 4g currently. This being said, I haven't heard anyone that seems very sure of a forced charge, or leaked pricing or anything of the sort for the 4g service.

Correct no one knows pricing yet. Safe to say it will be similar to Sprint 4g is my guess.
