Root Help..Question Please

Mic on phone broke, so I have to take it in to Verizon tomorrow. I unrooted, grabbed stock look rom 2.2 and restored. However when I come back up, I have a little ninja superuser in my app drawer. I never had this icon before, I always had a icon that looked like an android pirate skull and cross bones.

How do I get rid of this, and what do I really need to look for to ensure Verizon doesn't give me a bunch o crap about my phone. I have insurance on the phone, and just dont want to have to deal with it.

You can follow the directions for forcing the Froyo 2.2.1 (FRG83D) and that will break root.

Or load FRG01B from the stock images section of ROM manager. when you reboot you will recieve a notification to update to 2.2.1 OTA, which will break your root.

I would have thought he would have gotten the OTA notification already.

I've tried both ways (phone & astro) and PC to phone, and both do not seem to be working. I'm going to wipe sd and try each again

What do you mean it's not working? The links? or it isn't taking?

Menu> Settings > About Phone what is your Android Version?

Did you try SolidOranges fix? In ROM Manager > Download ROM> Stock Images> Droid version 2.2 FRG01B?

Back to stock, but still have superuser permissions ninja. Tried both ways, then wiped Sd and tried again. Each time, it has me reactivate phone, but when it comes back up, ninja still there

That version was supposed to break root. Sorry, I can't help you.

What happens when you select it? Does it go into the Superuser menu?
Have you try to go to Applications and manage and try to delete it? Maybe its just like a icon on your Windows home screen that doesn't take you anywhere.

Yea, nothing happens when I open app. I need to return phone to Verizon so I have to figure it out. Thanks anyways, going to try again tomorrow.

Wiping the sdcard will not remove your Superuser.apk as it resides on your phone in /system. The only way you can modify /system is to make it read/write. The only way you can do that is with root.

What exact method did you use to unroot the phone. Exactly, post a link if poosible.
